How much do you think petefj40's truck worth?

I'm just putting it out there for interest sakes.
Just because the poll goes up to 40k doesn't mean I think it's worth that much. I've spent way more than that but that does mean anything in the scheme of things.

I have my lexus buggy for events.
I'm going through changes at home that are making me rethink a lot of things.

If I did sell the 40 I'd replace it with a pretty much stock VX Cruiser.

Again, it'll only sell for what ever the market is willing to pay on the day. That's what i think.

If it sells. It sells with nothing taken off it. I'd leave all the extras on it.

If you are going that way, make sure you get a 24 valve model, or better yet just get your self a 100 series, they aren't too bad on price ($15-30k) and as it will be a mall cruiser you can bling it up a bit

Yea what you use it for as a daily driver and a tow vehicle for the buggy you will struggle to go past a 100 series. Sadly a 100 series will do the job a lot better than the 40.

If vvillys wedding is on the 19th why don't you chuck it on a website in the states in the meantime (with an inflated reserve), i.e. ih8mud or even ebay. Post a few links to your build and you tube vids and see what happens. You might get a lot more than you could dream of than in the NZ market. The Yanks go crazy for 40's and you win on the exchange rate as well.

Me and Mate did up a early 40 back in 2002.

Stuck it on Ebay and some yank bought it and shipped it over to the states.

It was one of the real early ones though, before they had rear barn doors, chevy Blue Flame engine, 3speed, hub caps etc

Sold for double what they were going for on Trademe at the time!!!

Its definitely worth the effort to list overseas with a truck like that

You also need to keep in mind that the results of this survey "What do you think it is worth?" will likely result in a higher value than if you had asked "How much would you part with to own Pete's FJ40?"

In my experience people will say they think it is worth more than they would pay if they actually had to fork out the $$$.

That said... If you have trouble finding a good home for it Pete let me know. I have a nice warm garage with a couple other 40s to keep it company

talking seriously now the mercedes MLs have no ability to hold their value and as a result you can get a quite late model one with a decent size motor for quite a good price a 5 year old ML 320 can be bought for $25k and if you look around you may be able to find one with diff locks
