Superwinch Tough Truck Winch Challenge

Post by monstr »

As most of you will be aware this is being run by Norwest ohvc, over Easter weekend next year .It will be the first with Superwinch being our major naming sponsor and on a new property to winch challenges ,3 of us spent the day up there today and have so far found 16 of the best stages i have seen ,all of which will require at least one winch some are that long we will be running 2 trucks at a time ,Mud ? i hope you like it as this property had many all year streams and springs which happen to run through alot of the stages we will be setting along with some butt clenching hill climbs ,So be prepared ,this will not be a walk in the park .You will be getting 2 1/2 days of full on competition.

to fullfill the land owners requirements vehicle access will be limited to competition trucks, marshals, and limited support crew .any others that wish to watch will have to walk to the stages "NO EXCEPTIONS" Fri stages 30min walk ,SAt 15-20min walk Sun 15 min walk . This is a working farm
If we abuse it we will loose it .
Full details of entry cost etc etc will be announced shortly.any questions please ask...

I wonder if the minister of finance was serious when she reconed there was enough money for a certain truck to be racing on Easter weekend?

At least it is an easy fix.
We always like to have the drive shaft as the fuse because it is easy to remove, rebuild and throw back in on while on the track.
That didn't take a light hit by the look of it either
Ugly is a state of mind..... and the state of my truck!

Ah......yip, BIG HIT
After a winch out by monstr, i drove back to the road and removed it. Went to a wreaker and picked one up, but I think it was off an auto 3dr cause it's a bit shorter. :(
Got a bit of tracking down to do to find another driveshaft.

Ummmm, it's still there :!:
I have to press out the forward UJ, and make a shaft that will get it home tomorrow. If that doesn't work, I'll put the yoke back in gearbox with no DS and tow it home with engine running for power steer and boosted brakes
Broken my 100% record
A good day over all.
Hope you boys enjoyed the banana cake
I'll post some footage too. I have to edit it, then up-load at dial up speed 'cause used all my data flow for the month, two days till roll over

Hi Mate,At this stage i can tell you competition is being held over Easter ,They will be racing from midday on the Friday with a full day on Sat and Sunday, finishing around 5pm on the Sunday ,If your going to book accom Henderson /West Auck area would be best .WE were looking at staying at the Paraki motor camp but had concerns about security of the guys gear while we were away on site and the one motel in the area was expensive and poor parking so we are all camping on site now .
full details will be up on the Norwestohv web site in the next few days along with entry details etc .cheers

Entry forms will be up on the Norwestohv web sit by the end of the week.
Address for the competition site is Hildreths farm,Kiwi Tahi Rd Woodhill.
Any competitors ,support crews not wishing to camp on site should book their accom early as things will fill up quickly over that holiday weekend ,Have checked out motels in Helensville and quite frankly are not suitable (limited parking, expensive) would suggest Henderson TE atatu is the closest 20 mins from site. any questions ,fire away...Steve
