Longer front driveshaft

Post by rayndeb »

Ive just moved my Hilux diff forward by 35 mm.When i get it to full artic the shaft separates. With the lift and diff move i think it needs to be 50mm longer. Is there a longer factory one or do i get it lengthened

Lengthen it bud  .
There is a bogan fix that involves a spacer between the UJ's, but I would make it longer.
When you measure up the new length, make sure you have room for the slip joint to compress with out punching up the pinion.

Because it is a front one, I don't reckon there is a great need for it to be done full on (Ie tom could sort it for you), unless of course you do high speed's in 4wd.
Your call.

Check the outerlimits hilux bible. there is a thread there on the fromt shafts. From memory the later IFS ones were the longest. There are three lenghts I think and the longer 2 have better double cardons (total movement).
Toy - Zuk chassis tub, hilux 4.88 axles and transfer, Nissan CA18DE motor and auto trans, sc12 supercharger, 32 10'5 simex, twin motor 8274 custom freespool. Well the parts are all there in various corners of the shed

The DC's on IFS surf's typically have much less movement, although they can be clearanced to make them work (just easier to use a solid axle unit).
