Dunlop Grandtrek AT3's
Anyone had any experience with these tyres? I've got an 80 series Landcruiser that gets daily use, mainly highway driving and towing the boat. Presently running Bridgestone Duellers but they're just about out of life so thinking about changing to these Dunlops. Would appreciate any feedback or any other suggestions for a good mainly on road / towing tyre.
Re: Dunlop Grandtrek AT3's
I run them on my daily driver kzn185 surf. I've put just over 30,000 k's on them so far and have absolutely no complaints. They handle well are quiet and aren't showing too much wear for the k's i've done.
I would buy them again.
Mate of mine has them on his navara, 90,000 out of his first set (with a lot of towing) now onto his second set.

Had the AT2's on my diesel Suzuki, thought they were rubbish, skittish in the wet, replaced them with wrangler AT/r's which were really good, running maxxis bravo a/t's on the 90 series which are good in the wet, seem to be lasting well
70 series prado (KZJ78) and 90 Series Prado (KZJ95)

Thanks for the feedback. I've read the AT3's are a big improvement on the AT2. Will check out the others mentioned. Cheers!

we used to have them on navara st-x utes at work. they were slipperier than a bakers secret muffin tray when the road was wet. pretty dangerous.
I've got a set of them on my pajero, though, and they're sweet as. wet or dry they hang on pretty good and let go gradually.

I work for Beaurepaires and these are one of our tyres, to be honest id stay away, my surf came with them and in the wet its bloody scary!
Ive previously had great experiences with the Goodyear Wrangler AT/SA's but the Bridgestones are also a great tyre!

Whatever I go for has to be good in the wet and it sounds like these aren't that flash. No complaints about the Bridgestone 694's I'm running now, except the price to replace them!!

Re: Dunlop Grandtrek AT3's
I went through the tyre selection process about this time last year for my 99 Surf and narrowed my AT tyre selection down to three tyres Bridgestone Desert Dueler 694, Dunlop Grandtrek AT3 and Yokohama Geolandar AT-S. The yoko's were not available at the time so being promised a good discount that turned out to be crap I went for the 694. My mate at work had the same model and year Surf as mine which he put the AT3"s. To be quite honest the AT3 and the 694 there is nothing in it, both appear to grip well in both the wet and dry. The biggest thing is how they are set up on the vehicle. I had a great run out of the Dunlop AT2 on my last vehicle a Terrano.where these proved to be good in both wet and dry and got 100,000km out of them. The AT3 was a little noisier than the competition. The AT3 is supposed to be a better and quieter tyre all round than the AT2. In Auckland there appears to be quite a price difference between prices with Dunlop being cheaper (around $250) than the 694 ($310 with a company discount).
Shopping around I found that I could get the AT3's for $60 a tyre cheaper than the 694. I initially believed the 694 was a superior product but comparing these tyres on similar vehicles, it is six of one and half a dozen of the other.
