did you have a shovel or any other recovery tools besides a winch?

didn't happen to get a pic of where it was recovered from?

doesn't look like your in any major trouble in those pics....

And in a different earlier pic, our young visiting friends were utilizing a hi-lift jack

ah I see... so at what point was it necessary to be "rescued?"

unless one of their engines packed up and died it should have been a fairly simple recovery unless they were trying to winch dead-weight ....

definately agree with mylux, ask around - dont go with the first vulture that jumps on you with cash quotes . . .

I would have put up a 100hp 4wd tractor with pretty decent rubber and a pto winch - if someone else provided a truck you woulda had yourself a pretty cheap recovery....

1. BOP4WD Club was not involved in the recovery.
= they all got kicked outa the club yesterday

2. The use of the BOP4WD Club name was not authorized by the Club.
=nothing to do with us,they stole it!

3. There was a request and an agreement for the recovery of both vehicles between the owners and the recovery team. The verbally agreed price was $3000 and the only claim made for payment has been for $2750 as per a signed contract.
=the contract that has nothing to do with the club because they stole it and are not members anyway...

4. The vehicles were ill equipped for Thompson’s Track. The owners of the vehicles did not want to be involved in the recovery & voluntarily left the keys with the recovery team & asked to be contacted when the vehicles had been retrieved.
= OMG im scared, lets get outa here before someone gets hurt!

5. Alternative recovery methods were suggested & rejected by the owners. This recovery was performed at the insistence of the owners who allegedly are uninsured for 4WD activities.
=we can do it or you can go get fcuked is an alternative!?

6. At no time have the vehicles been held ransom pending payment of the agreed fee. They have been properly recovered, securely stored, cleaned, & radiators and brakes flushed, thus restoring them to a drivable condition.
=play it down, give it a hose, make it sound like were still good guys!!...

Hmmmm,

We paid $2750 for our trucks,

Bugger moving countries, just found this. I always miss the fun, unless I'm in it of course. That tosser must be one of the recovery ripoff artist's bumbuddies   :lol. That should get him riled, live in Oz mate if you want to talk about it!

Got to say that reading thourgh all of this really highlights the ORE community spirit. It was clubs that tried to destory this forum in its infancy and many of us old b**a*r*s stood up to them and won. It heartens me to see this spirit continuing. This site will only flourish as, dare I say it, clubs are shit! Been there and done many as many of us have and many will do on their 4wd journey. This may not be a club, but my best trips were through this forum. Keep it up guys, you better still be going when I return to the Land of the Long White Cloud!

I'm sure they do Coxsy, but clubs are always full of politics and people have their agendas, but you just don't get that in ORE on trips, and I have been on sh**loads of them. There are good people in clubs, I have just always found they usually don't take seats of office and peole with the agendas take control. I have seen it in all clubs even non 4wd. Human nature really. Good to see your club may prove me worng. And there are many that are not in clubs that also do their share, the West Coast CMS review was but one example. As was the CHCh earthquake.

Belonging to a club isnt always the best idea, all i can say is HBClubs are a pack of queer c**ts.

stand up to these pricks quick.

I do not know who was involved, they certainly have made some bad decisions though. I strongly hope that the club, for its own sake, has ejected a few people.

I was in the BOP club 5 or 6 years ago, but have not lived in Tauranga since. There were a few Muppets (as with any group) but SOME OF THE PEOPLE IN THE BOP CLUB ARE AMONG THE BEST YOU WILL EVER MEET. I suspect that the reply from Neville was his best attempt at protecting the club from the PR damage that a few members inflicted, with the information he had (though in hindsight, with info from zero4 it could have been a better reply). If it wasn't for the help and guidance from a couple of awesome BOP club members I would possibly not be involved in 4wding today.

I remember BOP club members leaving their nice warm lounge during the middle of the Bathurst1000 to come out on a real shitty day to help recover my dead truck from Thompsons. I don't remember paying a cent (but I hope to goodness that I bought them beer). Another time I borrowed a trailer from a club member to bring my broken truck home. Another member spent the best part of an afternoon teaching me some driving tips, others helped me get around the wires unscathed. There is (was?) a good club feeling in this club.

Please do not strike this club off. There are good people involved.

Arron Eades.

P.S I'd be keen for a Thompsons trip soon, let us know when your trucks are ready zero4 and JJS.

Yup I know a few good people in the BOP club too. Recovered 3 trucks from the pines up near thompsons. We'd ventured into a track that apparently only people with 37"+ tyres go up and had managed to get almost the whole way back to to the road before running into problems. Was a friend of a friend of a friend recovery so not officially by the club, but since they could see we had well setup trucks and all the gear and werent just idiots playing around and had given a good effort of recovering ourselves, infact had spent about 2 hours hand winching with a hi-lift jack to get one truck clear lol. Cost us $200 all up, they guys got to have a bit of a play, we learnt a few lessons that day/night, and everyone was ok and drove home. Big thanks to them. $8k sounds like a rediculous figure. as mentioned before i think you pay a reasonable pre agreed amount and shouldnt be expected to pay for the recoverers broken gear. We agreed on an amount and were made aware that if they needed to get in more gear we would be charged accordingly
