Electric fan conversion.

Can any one tell me where to mount/ install a temp sender unit in my 93 V8 3.9? I am taking the original fan off and replacing with twin electric but need to know the following:
1. What type of temp sender do i buy?
2. Where does one fit this?

I piggy backed off the factory temp gauge with a box of tricks from these guys:

Although you are best off fitting a new one in the top of the radiator or the top radiator hose.

Prob the easiest way is to fit the sender in the top of radiator or the top radiator hose like WJW said, you can buy from auto stores or trademe the adapters already threaded for a sender unit that you just fit in the top rad hose by cutting a section out etc

Or if you can fabricate one could be made out of a section of mild steel or stainless tube with a nut welded or thread taped into it for the sender unit.

In the past I have brought a kit from Jaycar for around $40 , it is adjustable on the resistance for the thermistor so you can use the existing one in the truck for the temp guage or ecu .

oh yes, i think the Boy Racer chaps have a generic in line hose adaptor of various sensors that i could pop in line......

I've done it (inline temp) and find it works great, had a faulty Viscous Fan and temp went way high, but factory needle just started moving when I noticed the steam. Now I can see the temp moving from as soon as the thermostat opens, I feel much safer knowing where my temp is now. Will add a pic for you if you wants one

Oh nice job, easy to get and simple. Will get that sorted today and hopefully my new 14" fans arrive too so i can fiddle after work.

ONCE i figure out how to plonk a photo on here i will.....i joined a while ago, then tried a few times. Buggered it up and gave up. Now that i got me "new" Disco i will try again and read the instructions this time hahahah. Thanks a ton!

make sure the fans are fitted to a shroud that covers the entire radiator, or else it may over heat, just drawing on 2 spots won't cut it!!

you need to resize your pics so they are smaller than 800 wide, and then grab the link of the web site you are storing them on, press the [img] button and paste the link in between the img commands in your post, then it should work
