Looking for a mechanic

Post by cooper_man »

Hey guys,

Just picked up a 1992 Surf from trade me. It is in decent condition with a wof done back in November with a lot of work done at the time (reciepts for all)....

I need to get a couple of niggly bits looked at, I was wondering if you could recommend a mechanic that will look after it at the right price (funds are very tight!)

It needs -
Seals replaced on rear left diff
CV boot on front left needs replacing(I have 2xBrand new cv boots ready to go)

I also have oil filter, fuel filter, front brake pads and rear brake pads ready to go so I might get these checked too when at it, service isnt due but if i could get a fair mechanic i would def like to get everything sorted.

Can anybody recommend one? I can drop the car out any evening or weekend and pick it up the following day......

Thanks guys!

Paul

There are not many mechanics who want to spend a whole day at work fixing cars then on their off time fix them for cheap.
Best bet it to become a regular somewhere and hope they look after you or become friends with some mechanics

Or even better give things a go yourself. If you can't do it you can still take it to someone who can.

The oil filter, fuel filter and brake pads are something that would save you coin for years if you do them yourself.

Thanks for the advice lads,

the problem I have is, despite the fact I have been rebuilding classic cars and motorcycles for a long long time, I only immigrated to NZ a year ago so I have no tools here, really hard to get anything dont myself. I bought the spares to go at it but I think ill stick to just giving it a basic service every 5K.

I dont expect anybody to give up their spare time, I just didnt want to make the mistake of ending up walking into some Cowboy's yard.....

Thanks lads, ill give Green a call.
