50mm body lift or bigger spring shackles?

Post by James P »

What is better for height and performance and handling? 50mm body lift or is it better to go for longer leaf spring shackles for my 70 series landcruiser? It already has new springs and shocks, about 2 inch lift.

What about a 2" spring lift? longer shackles arent really the way to go, just depends on your budget which lift you do.
Toyota Landcruiser FJ40, front and rear lockers, 35" simex.
Toyota FJ45 build in progress.
Tires are like boobs, they always look big until you have played with them for a while, then you just want a bigger set.

Yeah it already has a spring lift. putting 35s on it, they fit but want a big more room for articulation.

If youve got a spring lift already then a body lift would be the go.

I havent actually got them on yet but ive spoken to Ricky at 4wd accessories and 4wd upgrades and they said they will fit on fine, but i just want a bit of clearance between the tyre and guards. I think body lift sounds like the way to go. thanks

You have to remember that the higher you go the more unstable you will be..I had a 70.. 2 " ome lift and had 33's under it and I still had a little rub but at the very extreme and at pace..lol..I wouldn't want to go much higher.. they have narrow axles and are tall.. centre of gravity is not as low as you would expect..cheers

If you havent tried them yet just move your front axle forward 25mm an put them on.
Body lifts are fugly an a little rubbing never hurt anyone as long as its not catching something thats going to cut your tires youll be fine.
As big said theyre a tall narrow truck so the lower you keep it the better
