Project Hilux, Chop, Change and a 5m

Post by Pajfan »

Well as some of you know when I shifted to Beaver Town I picked me up a mint Lux on 33's and with a heart pounding 1800 donk in him. Oh yeah more limpness in there than those 'fullas' off queer eye!
So on my first outing what does Supralux do? He sells me a 5m, manual in a car and all.
Yee ha :P
2 months go by and we get Conan to pick it up from invergiggle to drive up when he comes to get his truck.
Cool
Thurs morning and get an email from Conan,
'Oh yeah, about your car, can I just bring the engine up? Cause I dinged it a little? :?:
Cool, So it's got a wee dent. Phone Conan!
'Oh yeah, Rolled it down a mountain?

8 Times...

Nearly died...

The story will continue......(oh yeah, he's ok bar some bruises  )

Conan... We all want to see the pics of the car....... and the bruises...

I want more power!!!!

Bugger , glad hes ok ( for now ) . On the bright side if conan just brings up the engine no wreck to dispose of and on the down side if he misses or broke any important pieces hes a dead man again .

just a bruise on the inside of my right arm... and on my hip from the middle console...

motor and bellhousing are sweet, so is everything else he wanted out of it except radiator.. so thats cool

better that it happend up there with just me in the car than on the way to chch with a full car and oncoming traffic... outcome wouldove been a bit more devestating at 100kmhr!!!

Well, Looks like you did a good job :P
When I said I was guna wreck the car that is not quite what I had in mind?
After seein all that I am quite glad you are ok. :?
Still, Now it really is looking like it's designed for me to pull apart with a grinder.
Did you manage to leave me any panels to kick in when I need to vent during the build?
Tony
The radiator will have to come out of something else?
Wonder if anyone would notice if I just borrowed the one from my vectra?

For what its worth I'm just glad you're ok - waiting to hear back from the guy we bought the car from... I guess if you're going to have a crash a Supra is a good car to have one in...

I might have a recovery trailer I can use so Tony and I might have to do an overnighter to QT and grab it, save you any more grief from it...

It had a current WOF too I believe... so will be interesting to see what the local constabulary would have to say about the steering fault... I'll leave it in your hands if you want to go down that track... Quite shocking to think that the steering just disconnected itself and what could have happened.

cheers, not as bad as it looks ..... motor is all good, still on mounts etc, no leaks or holes in ther side of it , fuel lines etc are still as per normal

yeah the local constabulary are doing their thing... as much as i wanted to go unnoticed about the whole thing(dont care so much now that its mechanical) it seems i didnt really have a chance of that...
people were in frankton watching a white car tip over the edge and start rolling down remarks

but none the less, better that it happened there and then with only me inside and no injurys... rather than on SH1 with oncoming traffic etc

im still looking for a celica/supra repair manual to see if that splines suppose to run to the top, and to see if its normal that it runs so close to the manifold causing them to hit..

you can see on the inside of the clamp; that it used to be on by about 10mm then has moved out to 5mm recently just going by the weather/rust marks...

may have been aftermarket exhaust?? might just have been dodgy mechanic or WOF man not sliding it all the way down past that groove... either way the bumps or just gear changes were pushing the arm sideways, rolling the wee cv off. grinding the teeth in the progress or just tilted it off...

need to know if your coming to get it, so i can store it somewhere or hire another trailor to drop it onto ... as you can see i cant really afford to give that blue one its on any more abuse

thats not much abuse of a trailer i always find it amusing people coming out of placemakers or something like that with a small single axle trailer loaded up with 0.5 metres of sand or something like that the poor trailer groaning and moaning seen one using the wheelarches as bumpstops even some people aye

i must admit it is quite impressive that you got it on that trailer how did you manage that

it aint far off... springs are just about bent far enough upwards to be the bumpstops.... axle is starting to arch upwards in the middle when you look at it from behind

dropped it on there with the hiab...
