I wouldn't have thought different widths would be a problem, is it full time or part time 4wd?

Wider tyres on the same sized rim would bulge slightly bigger than the narrower tyre I'd have thought.

As long as rolling diameter is the same on the axle (side to side), width shouldn't matter a fark (as long as they will run on the truckl).
A 285/85 16 is the same as a 33" tyre and I am guessing it would equate to a 9r, you could try and find a 285/85 15 tyre and try it I guess.
Ugly is a state of mind..... and the state of my truck!

Providing its part time, which it is :-)

same width side to side means equal work in the diff but different diam front to back means the driveline can fight against itself doesn't it?

I was in this boat 6 months ago
My zook came with different size tyres front to back an inch bigger and wider in the rear and i noticed on hard stuff the tyres would scrub a bit. I figured this wouldn't be good for things.

I just flicked the two and bought a full set. You could sell one and keep the other as a spare?? Could you run a different brand/model tyre as a pair of the dimensions you want??

BFG were the only place that made a 33x9.5 and they don't even list that size any more. I rang around alot of places in hamilton with no luck.I like the size but don't want to spend 2k on new tyres and if i go any wider they will stick way out of the guards in the front.
