this is certainly a different product. Could possibly be a shakeup for the other manufacturers?

I could well be way behind the times- hopefully this is not a repost.

Interesting they have a 5 year warranty ....one of the conditions are they need to be serviced yearly by one of their "installers"

The no load speed is the key to the 8274 perforamnce. It measn that any traction you get turns into greatly increased speed. The best way to learn to winch and drive is to use a an 8274 as it teaches you control wheel speed to assist winching.

Hi,

I will be fitting one of the Twin Motor Winches into Mudhog in early Feb for testing before they go on sale. I'm looking at mid mounting it with the batteries behind the seats.

I will post up some spec's soon on the Twin Motor Winch as it is rated at 17000lb with the Twin Motor set up.

I will be fitting one with the Large Drum and Auto changer options fitted.

I'll post pictures of the fitting once we get under way.
The Winch is due here early Feb.

Cheers
Brett

The key to the power with twin motors if having enough battery power. Have you got batteries sorted? I'd be looking for something with at least 200 reserve minutes and at least 800cca. With my twin motor winch I ran twin 800cca, 240min res batteries. These were 25 plate tractor batteries and weighed 37kgs each. The funny thing is going with standard lead acid (sealed) was only 2 kgs heavier than using odyssey batteries. I looked at gel and to get the capacity it would have taken more than 2 batteries.

Hi Darin,

Batteries are one of the things I need to look into, at max amps the winches could be drawing a total of 890amps between the two motor's at 17000lbs.

Line speed: Amps 12v between the 2 Motors:

17000lb is 9.5ft/min Amps 890
12000lb is 13.8ft/min Amps 550
-9000lb is 17.7ft/min Amps 400
-6000lb is 22.3ft/min Amps 315
-3000lb is 29.2ft/min Amps 245
-1500lb is 38.7ft/min Amps 195
No Load is 54.1ft/min Amps 140

It will be interesting to see how it goes

Well I have run the Twin motor winch sitting on the back of my truck and all worked fine, the in speed with No load is about 20M per minute (65fpm) from the timing I did!!

The 40m Drum look's like it will hold well over 50M of 9mm rope.

It's a bit noisy, but could be because it was just sitting on the truck deck unbolted down.

It uses both motors for winch pulls and only one motor for feeding the rope out. I'm going to look at setting it up to driving both in and out.

The Auto changer works a treat :D

I assume then that the winch has a solenoid for each motor?

Also have you sorted batteries yet? Doesn't it have 6.5hp motors? If so then at stall they will be drawing more then 890amps. It will be over 1000. ie 4.6hp Warn motor takes 450amps at stall!
So I'd be looking at twin 1000cca batteries with at least 180 reserve minutes. Don't worry that it is only 1000cca as that is cold cranking (0*) so when they are warm they have quite a bit more cranking amps. From memory I think it is about 20% at 20*.
