Hold that thought Fitzy on the coast trip until my POS is sorted (not too long now I hope).

As you got yours going first Nibz, that means you are the one who has to drum up some other nutters to come and play our game. :P

Epic! You must have been super stoked to finally get it on the dirt!

National rockcrawlers meeting in the near future? Hoping to get mine back from Brian Howats this week to finish over xmas.

PS I would have a spare seat for a wellingtonian who wants to ride shotgun
There's gotta be some rocks round here SOMEWHERE!

well done getting it going!

Just shows you how long a project like this can take when you have to many distractions I recon. Not to mention a tight budget.
What impresses me nibs is how fast that vomitron came together compared to the 40, not to mention how well you wheeled it in your first event.

But this bj40 build of yours has been great to watch over the past years Jase. You must of been fizzing when you first got in it to play.

Looking forward to seeing you in it at it's first event.

strengthened up the winch mount on the front. tied it into the chassis rails with some 6mm by 60mm flat and high tensile bolts..

ya can just see it there under the positive winch cable..
Image

put in an air pump, actuated off a switch, so when headin through deep water, it'd positive pressure the winch motor and the bellhousing.. ta kbjj for lookin at the winch and cablings too.. have left the bottom of bellhousing with the usual drainage hole and the winch motor has a fitting, same as the top, with a little duckbilled type of shaped heatshrink.

air pump tucked way up under dash..
Image

into bellhousing..
Image

into winch motor..
Image

when backin up in possible night runs or settin up camp late, fishin late etc, i put on a rearward facing light.. put in a 6mm thick piece of perspex to protect light and keep corner rigid..
Image

after winch goin in, a couple of fella's mentioned it may be better to keep an eye on things, volt wise, so got a gauge and hooked it up to run off the battery, not the alt.. the alt and battery will mimic each other but this way is a true indication of how its holding up.. for when the time comes..
Image

also had the power steering pump out and gave that a reconditioning. grew tired of oober lube on the front of the fawdys engine bay.. i put new seals and bushes through it.. cheers jase.. just to finish a couple more wiring bits and i'll bleed it up whilst testing wiring things... also while pump was out, found the hole in the low pressure brass bush that sits in pump was too small, roughly a 4th that of the high pressure side. remedied that, reinstalled the lot..

more soon..

am workin the 19th of feb so looks like i cant do the wedding run with jase.. sorry mate. only wouldve been 1 seat anyhoo!  will see if i can get that day off, but not lookin good.

anyhoo.. made these two bits..
Image

to go and mount a heater/cooling box for a middle lean on console type thing and to mount a 2.5kg fire extinguisher on.. yet to put final securing bracket on top part. the cooler box has a couple of bolts tapped through the frame into the box to hold it in place when i roll..
Image

wired up the rear light, the air motor for winch and bellhousing and the cooler box too. all on seperate switches with an led 'on' light.. (one on to show what its like..)
