Want to get some new springs and shocks for my lj78 prado I understand Aussie never sore this truck but still thought OME did springs for it.But according to peter munroe they don't. I was going to get efs but just got a qoute from 4wdbits and the prices have increased over $200 from a few months back Cheers Rob
Why dont you go and talk to Mark at Chamberlians he should be able to sort something.
Toyota Landcruiser FJ40, front and rear lockers, 35" simex.
Toyota FJ45 build in progress.
Tires are like boobs, they always look big until you have played with them for a while, then you just want a bigger set.
can also get an EFS 50mm lift, talk to traxon. one of the guys there has an lj with an exo and lexus swap. I'm running the EFS kit and very happy. Good luck

Hey Mike
Can you do me a favour and measure the distance between your axles and bump stops, front a rear. Interested in comparing to my custom springs in my KZJ78. They have drooped over the past few years and was thinking about the set at Traxxion.

I had Chamberlains springs in my KZJ78 and they never sagged.

Who knew Prados could fly?
Ive found the same trying to get springs for my LJ71, Ive put 80series springs in in the mean time but there very hard riding I think the correct spring rate for the size of the truck would be better. You need two pairs of front 80series springs to do it to a 71.
Ok still weighing my options as I'm still not 100% if the OME FRONT springs fit. some say they do,some say they don't.for anyone that might be interested
EFS part numbers: Front shock - 36-5553
Front coils - TLC-104E - up to 60kg of accessories TLC-104HDE - 60 - 100kg of accessories

I ran the OME coils and shocks when I first did mine. Going thru my files I used...
OME 874 (HD) and N77 for front. OME 873 (MED) and N79 for rear.
They worked fine....But I found them a little stiff and then went for the Chaimberlains setup
CTFR-116SP and CTRR-240SP... They sagged and I felt were too soft as they were speced on the original coil rates...And for the type of driving I was doing. .(I know the guy who had them first made up)
Here is some info on those OME coils I think the HD I used in the front as these coils were designed for the LJ70 and the 2.4 is lighter than the 1KZTE...
But in my case I had barwork in the front. It worked out fine.
________ wire_N/mm_turns_Height___info__________________ Rear OME 873 17 35 10 455 +40mm 50-110kg Medium OME 875 18 42 10 440 +40mm const 100kg HEAVY Front OME 872 14 33 9 400 +30mm Medium OME 874 15 38,5 9 408 +30mm 51-110kg HEAVY
standard springs have 13mm wire front and 15,5mm rear
I run currently 80 series front coils in the rear and they give a big lift. I had custom coils made at Chamberlains in Chch but they have sagged 60mm...... Shocks were Toughdog in the rear and speced from a Landrover....
I am going to drop mine soon to the EFS 50mm lift setup as now running 35's and have height via tyres.
looks like I will be going to get the EFS setup from 4wdbits as they will do the shocks for $180 and springs $300 a pair I talked to a bloke from Traxion $225 shocks $339.25 a pair for springs Note: FYI I believe the rating of 60kg listed is a little bit high for the TLC-104E although I realise it is in our literature it should really be closer to 15-20 kg accessories for 40-80 kg I would look at the TLC-104HDE which are the same price
No don't look at bundera gear, they had a very strange rear axle set up, one shock in front of diff and one behind, and the springs are different on both sides. looked at a kit some years ago.
look at ome shocks and king springs .... my old lj71 (92) had these .... the ome springs are too high/bouncy apparantly. current lj71 (89) which is the earlier "bundy" has the same setup. the suspension setup looks the same as the later ones apart from the earlier trailing? arms on the diffs. no rear steering shock ? the front looks the same, arms and panhard measured the same between 71 & 78
70 series prado (KZJ78) and 90 Series Prado (KZJ95)
If you haven't already sorted it out, call Phil at Traxion and he will allways cut a good deal. I've got his efs shocks and springs all round. Fantastic... Much cheaper than 4wd bitzzz
