4wd Fiberglass is on Facebook. Could interest someone.

Post by flyingbrick »

as per the title- im helping 4wd Fiberglass get onto facebook. Its a slow process (about 80 more pics going up today) and im teaching the owner (steve) how to keep things going. Eventually it'd be cool if anyone buying anything from Steve can pop onto FB and see their part being made and see its status at the end of each day.

I know quite a few of you have parts from Steve (40 series mostly from what ive seen!) and quite a few of you are interested in stuff like this (it will end up showing a behind the scenes view of how things are made etc) so heres the link.

http://www.facebook.com/pages/4WD-Fiber ... 613?v=wall

I hope this does not offend anyone (he's not a vendor here) but then the website does not offer anything anyone else here sells so no toes should be stepped on.

Let me know if there are any issues :-) and if you are interested in what he does be sure to post on the wall there if you have any questions or anything at all

Steve does sell lockers (etc) through 4wd fiberglass however its not a priority for him it seems- hence the small deal made about it on his website and facebook.

You can get an ali tub from america however postage is the killer. 4wdFG has guys over there wanting their stuff but it just is not possible.

Quote to send a bonnet and doors to aus was $1500  so market is very limited to NZ for parts like doors and tubs.

He has SECOND there which im sure he would let go for less than usual. Its farkin awesome. Has two huge rows of slatted vents (done in carbon fibre/kevlar weave, exposed) and the rest is black gel coat (iirc) can not remember what exactly is wrong with it- but if you are wanting something racy I could find out for you.

Front guards are in two versions (i think). std and std with larger radius arch hole (same as cutting guard out but you retain the inner lip)

I'm pretty sure I could get him to come down a bit on price for you ORE guys too.

He's good price-wise to 4x4ers? Who else does he sell glass parts to?

I'm able to give SIGNIFICANT discounts to people for an easy sale. If you want anything let me know and I'll see what I can do.

Even though you are the man I'd just go see him in person
I've known him since before you had a truck. Nice dude to deal with and is always helpful. If you ask around other glass guys hes usually pretty good pricewise - full panels and repairs.

Theres a Maruti parked in there at the moment if anyone wants to check one out too.

Have to admit I don't know how the company survives with his prices what they are- everything seems too cheap considering the labour, materials and tooling used for each part. People just don't know that, for example, they can get race seats for $100ish ea if they just turn up there or give him a call.

the maruti is, basically, a long wheelbase suzuki samurai and it will be sold by suzuki NZ as a soft top with the option of a fiberglass rear panel and roof. I spent a few weeks shaping these two parts and getting them ready to pull molds from.

Probably the coolest project I have ever been involved in and I have learnt many skills while there in the workshop that I couldn't have got from a book or the net. Not a bad place to kill the days when you aren't able to work full-time.

ALSO, something steve does not advertise is his HUGE store of molds. He can help with many parts that people wouldn't think to ask about.

While being nosey i've found molds for about 10 different styles of race/boat seat, recessed fuel filler pieces, rifle stocks , lotus 7 body panels, VW beach buggy's, camper van roofs, some small dinghys, dash boards, any size/shape wheel flare, window surrounds, jeep hard tops, grilles, guards, bonnets, storage boxes, roof console boxes, off road buggy panels, half doors for fj40/suzuki/whatever, gauge and switch panels, vents, scoops, louvers... etc etc etc!!!

He does not even have a complete catalog of all available parts so you have to ask him personally what is available.

Sorry about the huge plug. I'm passionate about all things 4wd and especially made in NZ so talk too much

I've told him that time and again regarding pricing. I tried to get him to stick a logo in all his work, would have been sfa work and money but no

Wrong on the Maruti. I spoke to the suzuki rep a while back and its being brought in as part of the motorcycle branch to pitch at farm owners. Miles better than the little ag trucks I would think. Not road legal without a bit of work/$$$ Still cool though and means parts will be easily available for 413's and sammys.

how was that wrong?

read what i said. suzuki nz, i did not specify bike or car side and did not say it would be road legal ( although its being looked into- low volume etc)

and yeah much better than the ag trucks due to wheel size etc and price is not much more than one of those gay mule things.

They are quite a bit more than the daihatsu ag trucks though which has been putting a few farmers off them.

And the bikes and car sides of suzuki are completely different.
You can't just rock into the likes of winger hoping to see one
