had water go in my intake at low revs while driving through water. motor locked up. managed to slowly turn it over with quick turns of the key and got it started again. now when cold it smokes quite a bit and runs rough till it warms abit then its fine. cud it be a damaged glow plug or something else?
any help would be appreciated thanks

Re: help with diesel problem!
should have pulled the plugs then turned it over by hand, then turned it over with the starter motor, then put the plugs back in.
water does not compress, it only bends conrods and wrecks piston rings.

was in the middle of kaingaroa pine forest with no tools. and its definetly diesel smoke not oil smoke. thats why was thinking it was a glow plug out.
Re: help with diesel problem!
just had a look at glow plugs, tested them and no 2 cylinder glow plug is non operational.

hate to be the bearer of bad news but you will have slightly bent rod or rods.

Usually water is gonna root your diesel engine eh. Change your plugs and see if you were lucky though, may have gotten away with it but I would guess its at least shortened its life.
