Stuck Filler Plug

Post by timmay556 »

On the gear box of my hilux the filler Plug is F***ed and I can't remove it. I don't have a welder so short of me taking it to a mechanic to weld on a bolt to remove what else are my options.

Cheers

That would work, but then I wouldn't know when to stop as the oil is ment to flow out the filler plug when its full.

Go and get the specs on how much oil there should be :?
Than add a cup or two more
Any extra oil will just come out the breather :P
Cheers,
I keep looking for the loose nut behind the wheel, but I can't find it!!

Cheers mate, Im from Taupo, thanks for the offer though.

Might take her down to the local Toyota and get them to remove it for me.

I was in the process of doing all fulids on my ute and found the transfer case had like 800m of oil instead of the 1.6lt it needs :x

Put a pair of stilsons on the side of it. Then replace it when it is off.

timmay, get the biggest cold chisel you can find, line up on the edge of one of the hexes and give a F/ing good hit with a decent size hammer, a couple of good hits then drive the next size socket or ring spanner over it, they are 24mm std, or 15/16" so go for a 23mm or 7/8" or the trusty vice grips or stilsons (pipe wrench) and you will be surprised at how easy it will come undone.

ANOTHER HINT FROM THE OLD MECHANIC,
