petrol engine into diesel vehicle, tank, pump

Post by flyingbrick »

if you put a petrol motor into your diesel vehicle is it OK to use the factory diesel fuel tank and intank pump with the new fuel?

Just worried about seals etc being not ok with petrol.

Could be worried about nothing.

Not too familiar with the nissans but i doubt youll have a pump in your tank so if you want one youll have to custom fit one or run an external one.
Tank should be fine to run petrol instaed of diesel. Im running petrol in my diesel tank

I run a petrol engine with diesel tank no problems in my prado Im building. There was no pump in my tank like most diesels, all I did was remove the intank diesel pickup and cut the supply line pickup tube at the correct height and attached a petrol intank pump to the tube. I ran my electrics out through the tank pickup flange using a sealed electrical fitting. Can be a tight fit getting the pump and suction strainer into a diesel tank due to the internal baffles as well as the opening hole size in the tank. I opened up the hole slighlty to fit the pump in. Also a I went through all my original fuel lines and were ever there was a rubber fuel line or join I changed it out for efi hose. Little bit of shagging around but its a good result.

Make sure any hose you put into the tank is the correct hose. Some has the right stuff on the inside but when soaked in petrol the outside falls apart.
Otherwise can't help as I used petrol tank from different vehicle.
Nissan Terrano coilovers, turboed VH45, Safari axles, and some other stuff.

its no problem. just using the stock diesel pickup in the tank with a bosh 044 in-line (outside of the tank)

All the rubber fuel lines are new high pressure efi hose
