Post by chocolatelustboy »

Have just fitted a set of 60 series front disk brakes so need a set of fine-spline axles.

Cheers.

:?: i think the axle lenght is differant as the 60 is a longer unit over all, best to check out lenghts from your old axles

He is rite 60 axles are longer, i take it that you truck had the early coarse spline cvs? and now they dont fit? Its the cvs that need changing not the axles.
If this is the case you will find the fine spline cvs are also bigger and dont fit into your housing, so you could either put in a later model 40 series housing or grind you housing to to fit the cvs in.

Tires are like boobs, they always look big until you have played with them for a while, then you just want a bigger set.

yep - quite right: it's the CV's I need, not the axles (learning new stuff all the time :D )

What I've thrown on are a set of 60 hubs complete with the disk brakes.

Hopefully this means that if I simply get a set of 60 series CV's then they should fit into the 60 hubs ok without any grinding?

Appreciate everyone keeping me on the right track ;o)

60 series cvs are the same as the 40 series ones and its the diff housing that the cvs fit into that needs grinding not the swivel housings.

the inside of the swivel ball (ends of the diff/axle housing)needs to be eased back with the grinder top and bottom to allow the larger 60 series cv to fit. you can also use solid axle hilux cv's which are the same. you also need to use one of your existing axles but put the new cv's on them to be the correct length but one of them you can use a hilux axle...i think the short side is the same length?

its been so long!!... im probably wrong... should make a song...
