Another what to buy thread

Hi all.
I have a few mates into 4wd'ing and now need a tow car so a 4x4 is the obvious choice. However my friends opinions on 4x4's doesn't extend much past "nah don't get one of them, their gay". So I am here to seek the opinions of those more knowledgeable.

My budget is up to $4k.
Needs to be able to tow a car and trailer
And be able to handle itself off road.
I would prefer manual but can live with an auto if need be.

I would look for an old non turbo safari 4.2. I am currently using my uncles and on 31 inch tires it has plenty of power, I was quite suprised. Should find an older one for about 4. He paid $3700 for this one a couple of years ago though he got a good deal. And they are proven to have lots of potential off road.

ya go for a safari, thay are good on road and off road, i am on my 3rd one.
