Clutch Slave Cylinder - how to replace

Post by penetrator »

Sorry - completely off topic in terms 4x4 vehicles but I think the slave cyclinder in my 1996 ford telstar has just shat itself i.e. the rubber boot is split and perished and fluid is leaking out of it.

Managed to bleed it enough to get home today but i need to do 600kms + a week to get to work and need to fix it ASAP.

Anyone able to give me some advice / instruction I am hoping if i buy the part its pretty simple?

Also, anyone in Cromwell / Queenstown with mechanical knowledge that wants to do a cashy to fix it let me know!!

Buy a new one from bnt or wherever and you'll figure it out. All ya gotta do is undo it from the top of the pedal, usually just a bolt with split pin, then unbolt it from the firewall

And that would do the MASTER cylinder
Slave is the one on the bell-housing on the gearbox
Buy a new cylinder (cheaper and easier than kitting them), unbolt, undo hose. Fit hose to new cylinder, bolt back on and bleed. All done :D :D
Cheers,
I keep looking for the loose nut behind the wheel, but I can't find it!!
