I would personally stay away from the TB42. Electricsand rivers down south don't mix.

A Diesel is the way to go down there. Even on LPG you still rely on the sparkplugs and distributor to make it go

That Safari doesn't have sliding windows so no rust issues.

It doesn't have a factor winch either, and im sur you will be able to find one.

It probably had the pealing clear coat like alot of Jappa's do, thats why it had the respray. Ask him.

Don't wory about the rear coils, worry more about what it has been used for, make sure it hasn't been used for towing a giant boat!!!!!!!

So DieselBoy you would say it is a good buy????? Of course I have to get it back to Timaru which I have to factor in, and should I really get one with the factory winch already installed - it is something I certainly will need or are the factory ones pretty past it by this age anyway?
I will ask him about towing - the fact he says its a great tow wagon makes me suspicious about what he has used it for. However really people only bought these for 2 reasons didn't they - for towing or offroading. This may have done both, but hasn't been offroading recently by sounds of things.

Again any and all comments welcome. Am I to expect a better deal than this to come up if I wait?

Safari

Had a 4.2 diesil safari SWB, absolutly fantastic car. Used to give it heaps and I had no serious trouble with it. Just service them reguarly and they'll keep on running. And used to tow, small diggers/boats/tractors/horses etc with it as well, absolutly fantastic tow wagon.

My mate had a SWB Landcruiser running LPG/Petrol, and yea he used to switch to petrol offroad, so it was cheap travelling to places but then fairly expensive when offroading, went well though.

Just my 2c

Hey excellent thank you. Yes getting close to flipping coin on Safari and Landcruiser. Both are the equivlant tough workhorses. However from what people say about the suspension and that the Safari may have the edge. But I am sure there is a flip side - always always is

You know funnily enough I was sitting there watching TV, and thinking "What is the FlipSide". You know I came up with the same answer "Its a Nissan". Don't know why, just its a Nissan - I know Toyota so much better having owned 2, and seen mates drive Corollas exclusively - very reliable vehicles all of them - even the beaten up ones.

Obviously Toyotas marketing is much better than Nissans otherwise I wouldn't be programmed to think like this. The best truck will win - I looked at a cherokee for gods sake.
