Re: Hankook RT03 or Maxxis MT Bighorn???
Just to conclude this thread, the feedback was really useful and I ended up getting a set of Maxxis Bighorn (the last of the 762's I think) 265/75R16 for the RX Prado. Feedback was overwhelmingly in favour of the Maxxix tyres. I've fitted the new set on 8" rims and the fronts rub above the mudflaps just a little on lock with depressed suspension - nothing to worry about and the larger than stock size certainly looks great. Have only done a few hundred kms so far but the tyres are great on road, really quiet on most surfaces. Have also added Old Man Emu shocks all round and Polyair springs in the rear. The whole combination has really transformed the truck and it's now a pleasure to drive. To all contributors, many thanks!!

I'm going through the motions myself..I want a club tah 33 as 35's will be for comping in.. and had a look at the new 764.. they look good BUT because they are so new.. no feedback..
but I'm thinking of those.. when time is right..

Re: Hankook RT03 or Maxxis MT Bighorn???
It looks to me like the 764 will be a better mud tyre than the 762 by virtue of the tread being more open then the 762. The 762 has a tight centre tread pattern and I figure that's the reason they are quite good on seal for a M/T. In saying that, the 764 tread blocks are quite angled to the direction of travel and that might prove to be just as good on-road as the 762. Ha, at the end of the day, the proof of the pudding will be in the eating! We will just have to wait until a few brave souls have tried them out and posted feedback!! Good looking tyres though...
Re: Hankook RT03 or Maxxis MT Bighorn???
I'm now on my second set of hankook mt's on my 96 surf, 1st set i got 65ks without any rotation..they were down to 1.6mm at the last wof, so guessing if i had rotated i could have had 70 easily. A mate had them on his prado and guess's he had 90thou, he ran them the whole way down, he then purchased bfg's and they wore twice as quick. So for $ value and wear they are pretty damn good. I picked up my recent set for $1200 with alignment, 265/70/16

Re: Hankook RT03 or Maxxis MT Bighorn???
ive got a LWB prado and will be getting the Maxxis 764s when i can afford to do so. i was looking at the RT03s but after seeing a mate with them in 35's and two clients with them in 265/75/16s all wear out in less than 30kms i wasnt keen.
buckshots are really good too but without side bitters i prefer the 764.
cheers Ben
