i have a set of 4 tires made up of two khumo 270/75r16 (31.6)
and two silverstone 275/70r16 (31.2)
they have had lots of use on a farm and are about 2/3 worn.
will these wreck a tranfer case if used on the road or will they be worn to the same radius by now?
im trying to sell them and dont want to screw anyone.
mixing tires?
Re: mixing tires?
Thats a 1.3% difference between the rolling radius of the tyres, no worse than having new tyres one end and worn tyres the other end.

Re: mixing tires?
Id be interested to know if it causes damage having a slight difference or not aswel. I saw some clowns down the waimak a few weeks ago in an old surf... Had 33ish tyres on rear, with 30ish on the front............... I know for a fact that aint good!

Re: mixing tires?
personally i wouldn't do it either especially in 4wd you have all 4 wheels locked together, 2 wheels due to tyres being diff size will be spinning slower or faster than the other 2, which will put strain on your drive train and something has to give.
needs more curry

Real bad aye, it will bust the transfercase, muffler bearings and johnson rod when driving it on the road.
The only way you could possibly run this with out wrecking the entire truck is to have the transfercase leaver set in the 2WD position at all times on the road.
You might be ok in 4 low in the new world car park, but definitlly stay in 2wd at Pak n Save!!!!!!
