Since the hilux has to be re-certed for the supercharger, I thought it was time to change a few things on the suspension that I dont like..........

First up, change to twin front shocks

Ive also been running the new OME Nitrocharger Sport shocks for the last couple of months and am pretty impressed with their performance

Decided to start getting the hilux ready for the tuff truck comp, i wont bore you details of all the usual strip down and clean, but i am doing what i hope will be some useful improvements......

Started to make some roof bars up.
My navi had them on his old truck and recons that they were worth the trouble.

After seeing the track setting footage for tuff truck, i decided the time was right.

So using Telexs motto of, "cut ur way in"," weld ur way out"

I whacked four holesaw holes in the roof..........(Bet it rains in hamilton tomorrow)

Image

Hope it works out, or the next photo you see, the truck will be sporting some stickers on the roof

Hi Keri, I havnt had a chance to have a good test off road on the twin shocks yet, but so far they seem to be well worth the effort. Testing them on the neighbourhood judder bars at some reasonably high speed, they are a lot smoother and softer than a single. So a thumbs up so far.

Cheers

just had a re-read from start to finish, i spend alot of hours in the workshop but man!! do you have enough time left over to sleep and work??? just goes to show they are never really "finished" and always under development/construction... fantastic build tim good skills, it takes alot of commitment and focus to achieve what you have done..... will you continue to develop this truck or would you take what you have learnt and put it into a new build in the future??

See how it goes this year in the winch comp series, I had to miss most last year cause of work, but not this year, we will be doing all the north island comps.

As a bit of a heads up, there may be a new build thread eventually, it will include the following words... GQ, LS2, M122, ect, ect

Twin shocks were definently worth the hassal of putting them in, truck handles heaps better, and seem to get the power down smoother.

Same with the supercharger, getting tempted to crank the boost up a bit more, but am holding off at the moment, as reliability is more important for me for the winch comps, but after the nationals in november...........

Tomorrow. Nibz has dubbed it shakedown in shake town
I already know that the springs are too soft so there will some tuning work required there, but I'll give it a good twist up tomorrow and see how the rest of it works out.
