Hey guys...
Tyler here

Im 15 and keen to get into offroading, im eyeing up a few cars with about 7g to spend.

Im a big boi at 6.3, 120kg.
Just wondering what car would be good to hit the trail's at a beginner level... I"v been looking at surf's, jimny's and that's about it.

Well for starters i would not get a Jimny as that would be to small for you , anyway there is alot of selection of what you can get for that amount of money you said and you can get a pretty well set up truck aswell.
As for type of truck well each has it's pro's and con's, so I cannot say which is the best one to get because every setup is
different.
I would have a look through this site and get an idea first, there are alot of people on here that will give you good advise on what is good and what is not.

Anyway I hope you have success with finding a 4WD, also what part of N.Z are you in

Well there is but it is quit hard to find if you dont belong to a 4WD club or dont know anyone of is into 4WDriving.
If you want to find other places then I would go join a 4WD club you will be able to find other places there and also meet alot of interesting people and find out what they are driving.

I belong to the Norwest OHV club and have been with this club for several years now and it is a great club.

There are other clubs aswell depends on were you are located, wold choose the one closest to you.

I know of several places to go but some of them are not in Auckland.

I know of a few Unformed roads ("Paper Roads") around Auckland there is also Muriwai Beach.

Ruben is right on the money there.
Clubs are a good way of getting into the scene.
Some trucks come up from time to time through members by word of mouth too.
Have a bit of a hunt around and test drive a few (on-road of course) and make an informed decision.

Hey man, welcome to the site. You have definetly come to the right place

I would listen to most of the advice on this site, most will set you in the right direction.

The main thing to take on board when 4wding is there is nothing you have to prove to be the man, just listen, watch and learn.

You will learn alot if you take the advice on board, I am still new to 4wding but I have learnt alot from watching and listening.

Its all about having fun at the end of the day...

If I were you I'd keep some cash left over in the bank for repair/maintenance. Stuff wears out faster off road, and every so often something breaks and needs fixing.
A hundy here, hundy there, adds up. In fact, drop a couple hundy on a 1/2" drive socket set (and maybe a decent jack and some jackstands - it will pay for itself the first time something needs fixing.
Plus there's tonnes of cool shit you can buy for off-roading, so keep that in mind too...
