GQ factory diff locker won't disengage

Post by Swamped »

ok so I may not be able to drive the search option. But my rear locker won't disengage basically. at the moment just after a quick fix to drive home. Is there a vac line or something I can pull off to make it driveable? Making a horrendous clunking when reversing around a corner at the moment. Any long term fixes will be appreciated but getting it home in one piece is my current concern

Used the locker yesterday once, disengaged fine, dash light out. Today just re engages on its own wtf :?

As coxsy said, swap hoses on the solenoids. These are a common problem, but you can buy replacements (aftermarket) which are reliable and engage/disengage a lot quicker.

DO they just get hung up every now and then? Its usually quite fast and only once a year ago it had an issue but this is new. All good though thanks.

With them reversed does the diff disengage when switch is set to on?

Do they rely on vac to engage or disengage with a return spring or similar or have vac for both?

Been a while since I've had one, but from memory, one solenoid locked, one unlocked, as in, the actuator is push/push, so one pushes closed, other pushes other way to open.
If one solenoid is not working, it will either fail to lock or unlock, so can't be reversed by the switch.

Could be wrong though

Riiiiight :? It kinda comes across that if I swap the hoses around it will sort it. This correct or nah? Don't wana drive it home locked is all.
Its not been worked on so the hoses weren't reconnected the wrong way round. Just looking for a trick to disengage it.
