PTO winch rebuild. help.
ive striped my pto winch, well allmost.... gearbox end done and completely striped all in very good condition looks hardly used, having trouble with the enguage/disenguage part, ive took the six bolts out and thought the whole assembly would just pull off like a manual hub but no.... i am aware that the drum seizes on the shaft thats why i am stripping it down a bit of heat should sort that. i dont want to force any thing or start hitting anything until i know... i cant find a ''how to'' strip down manual.. thanks

Daemon,
Just give the side of the hub a tap with a rubber mallet, it will come off in your hand.
Once the hub is off, you will see the end of the shaft, with a circlip holding on the hub engagement gear onto the splined shaft. Remove circlip, slid off the gear and there are washers underneath. The washers are cupped, so just make a note of which way they are cupped i.e. facing inwards toward the drum, or outwards.
When reassembling the hub, use spray-on lithium grease. Too much normal grease will hydraulically lock it and is a total pain in the arse.
