Re: mounting a winch on a nissan terrano,
Or buy an ARB Bar. rare to find.
Mine took 6 months of searching on Trade Me.
Cost me $500, picked up from Rotorua that day
Good bar except for the "cheese grator" below winch
Nothing a grinder and a welder with some 6mm plate won't fix.
Now I have a bulldozer blade

Re: mounting a winch on a nissan terrano,
thanks, so far its cost me $70, the rest is just bits from the engineers off cut bin, once its fully welded and painted it should look good, till the first outing anyway, oh and i also searched for hours but no one ever shows how they are mounted, have more pix of mounting if anyone is interested,
Re: mounting a winch on a nissan terrano,
I can take some pics of the arb one, in the light tomorrow, if you want. It mounts to those eyes, four bolts where bumper irons were, and two small bolts form the side where the bumper irons were. Cheers,

Re: mounting a winch on a nissan terrano,
ok quick question about the winch im running, i brought one of them ridge rider winches, the question is on a incline when winching if i stop winching the winch will unwind slowly under load, just tryed it again at home i hooked winch to post and reveresed very slowly and i can hear the winch unwind, ??? what the, i know its only a cheap $400 winch but is this normal and any one else have one of these? i have also serched it and found nothing
Re: mounting a winch on a nissan terrano,
I have heard that they either have no clutch or it is weak. This just confirms it
I suppose you get what you pay for

Re: mounting a winch on a nissan terrano,
As mentioned above it will be a weak brake. Pretty sure it s the Warn site ( one of the main brands) has a thing on how to pretention the brake during assembly, most likley this was not done well on your winch, try find that (I remember exactly how) it invloves rotating the centre that the ramped pads sit in inside the drum, against itself, if that makes sense.
Toy - Zuk chassis tub, hilux 4.88 axles and transfer, Nissan CA18DE motor and auto trans, sc12 supercharger, 32 10'5 simex, twin motor 8274 custom freespool. Well the parts are all there in various corners of the shed

I had to do that with my old XD9000 warn cant remember the site i found it on but it was a austrailan site and it told you how to pre load the brake and had a diagram ,try googling it

Re: mounting a winch on a nissan terrano,
I'll talk to my personal inter-city courier.
With a few more additions it will be an awesome bar
Gave my ARB bar a bit of a shunt in the weekend and pushed the corner into the bonnet and front guard cracking yet another quarter light
Or I save for a D4 blade
Cheers,
