i need help please 4y engine

ok decided to stick to the 4y in the hilux i have found one on trademe Listing #: 360113922 Start price: $350.00

right, i know nothing about buying engines so can some please help me out on what questions to ask

any help would be much appreciated

ask questions like , what kms has it done , how long has it been sitting , did it make any noises , did it smoke at all ( start up or running ) if so , Black smoke = unburnt fuel / Blue = Oil / Grey,White = water , check inside the oil cap for milky stuff ( oil and water mixed togeather ) , check parts are clean and not rusty and complete .....if you can take someone with you to check it out ..

it's in hastings so a bit far to go if it's not the one, and with the price of petrol i may have to find one in welly
