1996 MU 4jg2 boosting when idel

hey there,
im a new guy here,same as 4x4 and diesel car.
here is my story
i purchased a 1996 isuzu mu couple days ago,its a 1996 3.1t auto done 140kms
last sunday i went to Tomposons Track part 1
car runs pretty well

after that,i found the turbo sounds alway boosting.

next day i start car.its turns on and turbo sounds boosting at same time.
idel abit goes up and smoke from exhaust.can hear the sound the turbo be boosting.like airplane
and no matter how long i stay at idel,when turn off the engine.can hear turbo stop running.sounds like when start

its that normal?or what sort of problem i face to.
and the car done aound 550km on 71L,like 13L/100Km,is that normal too?

Seemingly odd question: Does the vehicle have a air filter in it?? and does it have a snorkle?

If there's no Air filter, there's nothing blocking the sound the turbo makes (even at idle) from coming out the air intake, if there's a snorkle on the vehicle it'll be easier to hear it from outside the vehicle.

my flatmates wizard sounds the same too, like a huge airplane winding up, its probably a leaking exhaust gasket or similar....

Hahahahahahahaha, your truck has mysteriously solved the problem of how to run Anti-Lag on a diesel!!!!!

The Turbo can't pysically produce pressure at idle, there is simply not enough exhaust gas to drive it!!!!

Look else where, exhaust leak, intake manifold leak.......

yes,i agree with that.becuae not enough exhaust gas to blow the turbo.but its just sound like that.maybe somewhere leak.

check the impeller for play a noisy turbo on a 3.1 is bad it normally means turbo is on its way to self destruction

And is it sounding like a siren?
Will be followed by lots of smoke sooner or later.
Bearing is shot and compressor fan is touching the housing
Bummer dude.
Replace it or pay lots to have it rebuilt.

Hi rekey,

I also have a 3.1T Diesel, 1997 Mu, I have not had this Issue (Touch Wood) yet, I dont know about this as Iam not mechanically minded, but I would take note of the above post with the bearing starting to go on the turbo.

Also visit website ClubIsuzu there is alot of soultions to anything for Isuzu Iam a member, and that is my first port of call if I have an issue with my truck.

3.1 turbo's are non rebuildable unfortunately, its on its way it could last a day or last years its hard to say when it goes you'll know.

i would look at replacing it with a turbo off a 2.8 as they are rebuildable.

car running well,and sounds not quite loud actually.
maybe its just one the way to hell...
i just keep it like that,like all you guys told me the turbo unfixable.
so if its fail someway then just upgrade that,or cut the turbo,run 3.1d none turbo.haha

if turbo goes you have a chance of sucking turbo parts into your engine which will cause even more damage than just a worn turbo
