:oops: Not achieved much since last post... Been spending all my spare time with my boy :D

Been acquiring a few fibreglass parts here and there - only panel I need now is a fibreglass rear upper tail gate - LET ME KNOW IF ANYONE KNOWS OF ONE FOR SALE. Can't afford a new one at $450 :(

My new years resolution is to finish this truck this year (but my new years resolutions never come true)

Will post some progress pics soon...

It's an old thread, but I like it.

Anything new?

Focusing on the bush truck dude. Just working on the one truck at a time hopefully means the bush truck will be ready for this winter.

How embarrassing... just read my comment in Jan 2010 that I would finish it that year :oops:

Achieved some progress on the old build :oops: over Christmas...

But first, thought some of you would like this; wife made a book for me for xmas of the entire blue truck build. I was blown away by what she had managed to do given her complete lack of automotive knowledge. Something I'll be proud of forever:

And then she went and got me these for my birthday;

What a good girl :mrgreen:

So bought myself a 1/3rd sheet sander (cause I knew one of those wasn't going to appear under the xmas tree) and took to a few panels from the collection;

And the pile of panels just got bigger and bigger...

Hit them with some primer filler which was mustard yellow and not too dissimilar to a faded original FJ40 factory colour :lol: and decided to leave them with a black guide coat for now. Bolting them back together before the doors get their turn.

Feels good to be making some progress on this truck - again - finally

Thanks, and welcome to ORE!

I've got a stock 40 Series radiator in there currently.

Haven't rigged up the temp gauge or a fan yet so only run it for short bursts to keep engine lubricated and me motivated :mrgreen: . Will post up some comments on how well it cools the Lexus once I've got to this point.

Thanks for the welcome. Do you know of other FJ/BJ 40 series 1UZ swaps where the OEM radiator was used with success? Unfortunately we never got the 40 series in ZA at all, so trying to find info here when you are literally swapping an engine into “unicorn” can become a real pita if you know what I mean. What clutch are you using ?

Yeah, there are a few lexus setups around - quite common going into the hilux. To be honest if I was starting again from day 1 I'd probably go with a 350 Chevy. The Chevy has more torque and heaps more aftermarket options to get more horse power.

If you are after more tech detail on the Lexus then check out this website:
http://www.lextreme.com/

Couldn't tell you what clutch I'm running, I bought the engine & gearbox already set up from Lexlux off this site. The motor is a 1990 mid sump out of a crown & gear box is a 5 spd out of a 1992 LJ 71 Landcruiser.

Hope that helps.

Hahaha!!!!! :lol:

Not as retarded as me - I posted blue truck photos and vids on this one as it popped up first... :oops:

All my bad. But tried to edit it so the two builds are not mixed up.

Who knows, one day I might progress this truck some more :roll:
