looking at grabbing stuff from http://www.china4x4offroad.co

Post by williamhamilton »

Anyone considering grabbing some bits at the moment and would like to share freight etc?

I am looking at putting a small order in shortly and thought I would see if any others of the ORE crew are in the same boat.

PM if you like.

Could do with prices for the above, would like a compressor off them too but there isn't enough info on their site.

I will see what I can pull together.

I have to work through freight and get some prices for that - any pointers for this welcome.

As for bits from China offroad there is a min purchase amount so will need to be good interest if winches/lockers etc are wanted - I am grabbing small bits at the moment so easy to get min orders sorted on those.

Winches and lockers I think are min of 10 - I will confirm tomorrow.

Dude, you still looking at doing this.

I'll give the snorkel a miss (going to build one out of exhaust pipe).

Dont worry about the winch - going modify the exhaust and fit the PTO unit I have in the shed.

For the winch rope - I guess 30m would do it. Basically enough to fill a 60 series PTO drum.

Cheers.

They'll ask you for the ARB code for lockers.
I had a look at these at the factory when I was there, the same locker from the same factory is not the same as export quality but in saying that their about $500 Inc freight.

The rope was not cheaper, 100m was about $2 more per meter than D & M standens

You need to specify if you want the 24v compressor.

Be careful on a bulk order, you should be prepared to pay a bit extra at customs. 100kgs of new car parts might catch their eye.

China does not have the same warranty polices as NZ, how much
will you save if you have a problem, assuming of course you can
send it back.

The NZD is very low and the RMB is high at the moment.

They can orgonise freight, door to door, not a huge expense. Nothing like NZ prices. One option could be to do a bulk order but get it split and sent individually.

In saying this, you can get good deals, don't accepte the prices they give you, everything is negotiable.
If you want a hand to sort it just send a pm

Good luck

Most Chinese companies trade in USD and for the last 2 odd years our dollar has been very strong against the USD so its prob a good time to buy now but check the dollar on a daily basis as it changes everyday.

I need confirmed numbers to work out overall cost as freight and import varies a fair whack. Also need to get min of 10 units of each unless I can convince them on samples but more expensive.

im sure they will cave and do "samples"

I know a store that orders lockers/winches etc from there and they order far less than 10 winches (and all different models too)

Be careful as its a bit hit and miss with regards to quality. some parts are good, some parts (like their high lift jacks) are absolute garbage.

Their lockers are better quality than they used to be apparently. spare parts could be hard to source unless ARB parts fit.

if you are smart with the compressors you could save alot of money and get an identical product (eg twin piston typhoon type pumps, yellow t-max pump)

I'll take two of Products Name:SZ-120
phone Ross Bolus (secretary of the BOP club) He'll save you.

If that turns out to be true or even only marginally cheaper then I'd prefer to buy from an NZ supplier.

According to customs there is no duty on car parts, all we would have to pay is GST.

I am not doing this run as a commercial venture so cannot offer warranty - I see this as a coop purchase while I am going through the process.

So far additional costs will be freight, GST, local port charges, custom clearance and local freight. These all vary on final cost and size. With all payments to be made up front which could be the killer :)

I will take a front and rear locker for my patrol

RD 78A front
RD 24 Rear

Do they come with compressors or are they purchased separately. I couldn't find an answer to this on the site.

Cheers
