Suzuki diff ID

Post by unadunted »

Gidday, I have a pair of leaf sprung Suzuki axles, hub to hub with disc brake on the front. How can I know if they are 410, 413 or the wider Samurai? Thanx

410 had a disc front as well.

Diff flanges and ratios is the other way to tell. If the marks from the drive shafts are still visible . Bolt spacing is different on all 3
410 uses a small spaced square flange.
413 slightly larger spacing with one curved side
Samurai uses the large spacing .

410 diffs are 4.11 ratio
413 diffs are 3.9 ratio
Sammy diffs are 3.6 ratio

if you cant measure from backing plate to backing plate easily, then from outside of spring to outside (or outside to outside of the spring mount brackets on the housing) on a samurai is approx 770mm, on a SJ413/SJ410 it is approx 690mm. Thats narrows it down to one of those two easily. If its the 690mm then it will be out of SJ410 or SJ413 and identify by driveshaft pattern as per UBZs post

I think sammy diffs are 3.73 ratio (but still higher geared than 413).
