Got invited to be winch bitch for my good mate Rude, some of you have meet and been 4wheeling with him over the years. He was leading and extreme trip for his club into the glasshouse mountains, nth of Brisbane. We had 4 trucks in the group, Rude's 80 series, twin locked. A twin locked modern pajero, a front locked GU and a front locked GQ. The day statred out overcast with light drizzle starting about 1030 with heavy persistant rain after that. We went along the power tranmission lines trying to get to little and big red before the rain started, but no luck. These two areas are pretty much vertical rock faces much like the exit track out of the chasm. The track in itself was much like Mt Greenland, steep, slippery and lots of rock at times. The rain was the same except 20* warmer. Well we winched heaps, snatched heaps, water in the trucks from having to ford a swollen creek and getting stuck. Was wet through, muddy and tired by the end of the day, but shit I had a heap of fun. Needed it to blow some cobwebs out of the system. We even had to do a bit of road building to get the trucks though and rude's truck got slipped a wheel off the edge of a very steep bank at one stage. Saw lots of wildlife, and some good country. sadly I didn't take pics because I was too busy building roads and being a winch bitch and it was raining too much. We enjoyed the beers at the end of the day.
