31x9.5x15 MUDs what's available ?

Post by UBZ »

Im looking for new mud tahs for the zuk.
Want 31's again but would prefer a slightly narrower profile ie 9.5 instead of the standard 10.5

Only thing I can find in the 31x9.5 size is the TSL super swamper

But I would prefer a less aggressive , better wearing tyre as they will see a fiar bit of road use

Anybody know of any other brands that make a tyre in thIs size?

The BFG KM2 30/9.5x15 is almost the same height as a maxxis bighorn 31 x 10.5x15. But slightly thinner. Could be worth a go or at least a side by side comparison. If ya have a close look on 4wdbits they tell you the actual size.

There are other options.

Do you need to stay at 15's or can you go to 16" rims? The selection for 16's is better without going too wide.

I think you mean 245x75x16 which (in BFG) is 30.7" tall but 9.8 wide (on 7" rim).

I would prefer to stay with the 15's as I all ready have 2 full sets of 5 rims ,
16's are definatley worth a look though, better tyre sizes availible but not alot of info available on offsets in Suzuki PCD.

Interesting that the BFG KM2 30x9.5x15 are are only 6mm smaller than the Bighorn MT-764 31x10.5x15 @ 777mm inflated diameter.
Pity they are approx 150$ more expensive per tyre than the Bighorn

235/85 x 16 is an option quite readily available size if you can get a set of rims for the right price

Grand Vitara LWB rims are 16x7 and stick out nicely on a SWB GV, Dunno how they compare to an SJ in offset, let me know if you want any measurements. I got an as new set for $250 4 years ago.
Standard SWB Grand Vitara rims are 16x6.5

A photo would show the offset , but a back space measurement from the rear centre mounting face to the rear of the rim would be awesome.

pretty sure if you want 9.5 wide you have to go 16" rims. lilpig had 30 x 9.5 (x15") retread handcuts, the retread put the inch on the size to take them up to 31 x 9.5. I had them returned not long ago

Might have to have a look at those
My current spare is a motorways retread on a 30x9.5, feckin awesome tyre , and bigger than my 31's, pity you can't get them anymore.

A bit slow on it but the 16x6.5 rim measures 65mm from front lip of rim to hub,

16x7 measures 85mm.

Which I guess makes them both positive offset which probably doesn't suit on a SJ

This is what the 16x7s look like on my Suzuki.

These pics probably disprove this statement as that's nothing compared with the -24s on my hilux.

Hey Chris have you looked into a set of Silverstone MT-117

from all accounts of the ones I've seen so far, they all seem to be a lot skinnier than other brand tyres of the same size.
