After a Samurai Rear Diff

Post by nvdrx »

Hi All,

As the title says - I'm after a 89 Samurai rear diff. If anyone has one of knows where I can get one it would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

There is a crown and pinion on trademe for cheap at the moment if you want to rebuild yours -- I bought his front one for a spare, he still has the rear on there.

Hey,

I see there is one there. I was hoping for a complete diff head - take old one out, put new one in :D

I did the pinion nut up instead of taking it off in a rush when I had a tyre fleet truck around (pinion seal change) - so I believe i've probably knackerd the crush sleeve. Still driving ok, bit whiny though. I use it for hunting so I don't want to get to the middle of nowhere and have the diff give out on me. And i'm not in a financial position to get the diff rebuilt either so hence why I was hoping just to buy a second hand one a swap them around but a samurai diff is proving hard to find :(

If it hasn't been driven with play in the pinion shaft, the gear set is probably OK. If you end up replacing it, I might be interested in buying it off you -- as you say, the samurai ones are mildly interesting to get your hands on, and I tend to be hard on them!
