I need to take the front anti-roll bar off my Lada, to allow me to get the exhaust system lowered down in order to work on it.
Would it be suitable to leave it off? Or is this a bad idea?
(One of the bolts broke and the other one came loose at the end that is supposed to be secured to the mount, and now it's just spinning and I cant get to it to fix it... )

dont quote me on this but im pretty sure you need them front and rear if they are fitted from factory (non on the old landy) to get a wof regardless of the truck but alot of the wof guys dont check. taking them off will probably make it handle even worse.

OK, I doubt the WoF guy at my Dad's will mind. And handling isn't too much of an issue. it cant really go fast enough to be dangerous round corners anyway

does this mean were getting closer or are you just planning for the future?
And yes, getting closer... I cut the rear muffler off the exhaust and will weld an extension onto what is there. And once the anti-roll bar is off, I can weld up the crack. Then I can put it back on, and the only thing to do will be the brakes... I think.

Hi I am a Niva enthusiast from Belgium and I'm visiting NZ hopefully sometime next week. I was wondering if I could hitch a ride as copilot in a niva on a 4x4 trip to see the offroad side of NZ. I have experience in 4x4 and on the niva so I might be of some use if anything goes wrong (which never happens when your driving a niva ).
I'm starting in Auckland where I hope to buy a car and then I'll be backpacking from there on.
My stay in NZ will be anywhere between 1 and 3 months, and I'll be travelling from north all the way south.
So if there are any niva owners who are willing to take me along in the niva for some (heavy) offroad fun please let me know.
Thanks!
may i suggest don't just limit yourself to rides in ladas that way i'm sure you will get more offers
I'm sure owning a Lada, makes your eyes grow closer together
It all started with giving them their own forum
Cheers,
I keep looking for the loose nut behind the wheel, but I can't find it!!
Most people who remove it say there's no appreciable difference on the road. However, I found an appreciable difference on the road; definitely more rolly-polly on corners, but not too badly (this might be compounded in my case because my front shocks aren't in top order, or because I drive it harder ).
It is also definitely a WOF fail (and probably enough to invalidate you insurance for that matter), but mine's never been noticed missing at WOF time (and that's at a place that has failed other 4x4s for not having their anti-roll bar). I have of course kept it and all the bolts just in case.

Baxter's Niva Site: www.ladaniva.co.uk/baxter If you do not have anything to occupy yourself - buy a Niva.

Right, so I'll take it to the firendly garage near my Dad's for a WoF. And if I have an accident, I'll quickly whack it back on (or claim it fell off andf I lost it in the crash ).
Thanks Baxter
