Optimum GQ Suspension Geometry & Strength???

Post by Clint »

Hi Guys, after exploding virtually every part on Telexs' Hilux's axles at the Rotorua Winch Challenge we decided that some GQ running gear might be a better option, especially now we're thinking about doubling the boost & putting in an intercooler

We've scored a heap of parts now: several axles with all the bits, steering box & arms, springs & all the suspension arms, & are about to shoehorn the whole mess under the Hilux.

We are looking at using 2" lift springs & basically copying all the GQ suspension geometry. Is there anything we should change apart from making allowances for the longer springs? Is there anything we should strengthen?

Any comments from the Nissan Gurus appreciated :D

Cheers

If it breaks, build it stronger.
If it doesn't break, drive it harder.

You will neet to gusset the top and bottom of where the housing
necks down to where the cv is housed it is the only realy weak bit and can bend leaving you with alot of negative front camber. Some people gusset front the diff head out to the spring mount on the left side aswell.

The 5 link geometry in the rear of safari works well but the arms are weak and you will bend them when competing. Same with the rear panhard that will bend to, Chuck in an a-frame and you wont need it

Thanks for that, We thought those rear rods were a bit light. Some heavier tubing will go in there & gusseting the CV housing looks easy.
