2nd - 3rd April

Post by kbushnz »

My turn to start this one.
Started early, trimming out the front guards on the Prado, to clear the 35's and also fit some mud flaps.
The rubber sheet has only been sitting in the shed for 8 months or so.

Then going out on Saturday to help peg out some tracks

Can I include the weeks achievments?
Had a look and there isn't one for Mid-week.
So far this week, fixed broken control arm, removed gearbox and clutch. Cleaned out starter motor as it is much easier to get it out with no G/B in the way
Had a custom clutch made and then fitted it and bench pressed the box back up into place.
All going good.
See ya tomorrow Calvin.
Cheers,
I keep looking for the loose nut behind the wheel, but I can't find it!!

The Taranaki 4wd club had a fun day/swamp run today, started at 9am this morning less than 40m in and we were snatching and winching   excellent day of muddy fun
and tomorrow we are back there for more fun and Recovery training though after today I think we all know how to snatch

Got land rover back from garage late last night, with new brakes (really not much of a difference...) :? and wof :D so fitted the front parabolic springs will do the rears later in the week. sitting about an inch or 2 higher so new longer shocks will be in order some time...
also got mounting plates made up for pod guage holder and one for the switches, need to paint them up and then mount them. then the wiring fun and games begin... will get more done tomorrow hopefully...

got it all painted and mounted up today and the volt meter wired in. excuse the rough wiring i just wanted to check it all worked. only need to do the speaker and the led interior light. any ideas for a 3rd gauge to fill the gap?

cheers

Today I put back the LSD in my truck as I had an air leak in the air locker unit by the seal housing it will be the O-rings also being a chinese locker the tolerance's wont be that great, was expecting to see bits of metal floating in the diff oil but all I found was very fine fragments from the spider gear washers.

Now have to getting this air leak sorted and I will be back in business.

All things landrover..........fitted "hidden" flashing Police strobe lights for over taking "none shinies" in the bush, made a spare wheel carriwer bracker for my high lift jack. Used two tail gate pins/ clips and a third one for the pad lock so now i dont have to unload the back to untie the high lift of the rear floor anymore......YAY!
Fitted a very CD/ Radio too to listen to some CCR while i wait for help if i ever get stuck one day..........only dont recoveries so far???? must be the Discovery land Rover thing? Haha

Also fitted a Range Rover suspension air pump to fill the on board air tank via a low pressure switch which is onmly active when the key is one to avoid draining the batts if it gets a leak one aday and im not home...............

I managed to find a jack that is actually capable of lifting the Fiva (the standard one from the Paj). Good to know I can steal the wheels from that when I want to go wheelin' in the Lada

But apart from that, nothing 4wd related :( :(

I've only been in Wellington 3 months, went out for a cruise with the gf up through the Akas and came to a clearing with a couple of guys on quads. I asked them about the track across the road which they said I would be able to do fine, which happened to be Odlins road when I asked what it was called (which I had heard about but had no idea where it was so a pretty sweet and unexpected find haha). So ended up driving to the summit, then kept going down but there was a steep bit by a waterfall im pretty sure I would have had to winch up so turned around as gf wasnt keen and was no one else around. There was a clear winch tree and a broken tree protector there haha and I could see where the last guy had got stuck.

This image adding interface is stone age shit and is saying my image is greater than 801 pixels wide when i even resied it to 640x480

Fitted 2" lift Britpart HD springs and Procomp shocks to my Disco.

Less body roll on corners, more road bumps, slightly less sway - seems good so far.

Now for some tyres...
