Kaiwaka winter trip

Post by SP450andLE »

I have been thinking of planning a trip to my Dad's farm in Kaiwaka.

I would want to have the trip sometime in winter, because it is HEAPS more fun when it's so wet you can barely even get out the back.

So I was wondering whether people would prefer a whole-weekend trip, or just a day trip? We might be able to use the Hakaru hall to sleep in (10 mins from the farm), otherwise we could brave the winter chill in tents?

The farm is only 2.29 km's from SH1 (the same distance to a petrol station). Also, Kaiwaka is around half way between Auckland and Whangarei, so isn't really hard to get to.

The farm has a variety of 4wding aspects to it, with hills, a bit of flat, bogs, swampy stuff, a creek and a whole lot of MUD. :D :D
We have held trials, and numerous club events here before, all of which have been great fun. :D

So if anyone is keen, feel free to suggest anything, and tell me your preferences (day or weekend trip).

(I may upload photos/videos later.)

Chur.

Iam always keen was dissapointed last time was out there as I did not make it past the first big hill by the pond also only having two of my Khumo's, so I would go for a couple of days depending.

Will also have my mud's on, and hopefully no breakage's this time.

Yep the first one, I would like to do that and also that other hill climb, seeing I have the bigger exhaust it has a quicker pickup so I will look forward to this.

Hey Ruben,
Bear in mind I now have a big exhaust too, twice the boost, new tires, and my rear diff lock working.
Bring it on :P

Have to wonder what type of tow rope was been used when the Suzuki was trying to tow the Hilux? Didn't look to have any stretch in at all. At least you can see the rope stretch a bit when the Terrano hooked up on it, but that was obviously a different rope.

Hey Lewis,
It's at the end of the "grass Hill Climb" vid.

Dunno what rope was used there, but a little zuk can't stretch a strap very far before it changes direction and recoils

We sent in the zuk because that was his first trip with Silverstones, and we did it for a show

We had real fun playing in the mud that day

You better have your new snorkel before the trip Simon, 'cos then you can have a go at 'The Impossible Bog' (A bog that no-one has ever gone the whole way through, not even massive big 350 Chev tuff trucks)

Yeah, I was thinking of having it sometime between now and September (just to be precise   ). A date will be confirmed later, when the Lada actually has a WoF.

I may even have the Fiva going (but it most likely wont be road legal), so I could take that for a spin

Don't forget, some of us are planning a trip to the Naki mid May.
I have to get as many trips in before I retire the Terranosurus.
