I have a daihatsu rugger leaf springs all round model. If I load it up with (at a guess 2-300 kgs) in the back it rides fine except on some corners it develops this scary side to side body wobble. The front springs could do with a reset. It just got a warrant and a panhard bush was replaced. It has been doing this for the last four or five years. I only notice it once a year when I pack the thing more or less chocka with kit for the annual roar trip.
As it's a total shitbox I don't want to pour a lot of coin into it but had wondered if I replaced the rear shockies would that sort it?
freaky rugger wobble
Re: freaky rugger wobble
If its leaf sprung it will not have panhard rods, so no panhard bushs to replace. Think you got tucked at your WOF???

Thats just a rugger for you. crappy sagged out leave springs and a narrow wheel base.
My rugger had panhard rods.
good shocks will help. Does it still have the electric adjustable shocks. there crap at best of times. or is yours the earlier one, pre electric shocks. think I still have a set of monroe gas shocks in the shed if your keen. wrecked a couple.

Whereabouts are you? I live in Dunedin, I'm in a bit of a rush trying to get this thing sorted by Friday lunchtime. I'd forgotten about this issue (as i seldom ever load it up) till me mate admitted that it scared the shit out of him last year when we drove over to the coast. Yes it still does have that electrical gizmo that does nothing as far as I can tell, it must be long since flogged out.....

Hell, so it does, but only in the front !!!!!
Check the condition of the shackle bushes in the rear then perhaps.

It almost sounds like loose U bolts.. Just not quite tight enough. and it not it gives the spring pack a chance to twist a little.. gives a weird ride feeling..
maybe something to check..?
