Yeah mint when the fifth wheel camper hides the shit house chop on the cab. Idea good, execution poor.

would look mint with an exended wellside 8)
Toy - Zuk chassis tub, hilux 4.88 axles and transfer, Nissan CA18DE motor and auto trans, sc12 supercharger, 32 10'5 simex, twin motor 8274 custom freespool. Well the parts are all there in various corners of the shed

I thought it was a good idea too. I looked at it in detail (though no pix) and it looked like it was finished really well.
Hey with a fifth wheel on the back you wouldn't need a rear window.

Apparently the guy that built it has sold a few of them up north.

Good for loads but no drive to 2 of the back wheels :(
I keep looking for the loose nut behind the wheel, but I can't find it!!

Sorry about that.
That has nothing to do with the truck. It got caught in the picture.

No drive to the very back wheels for this shiny.
But not sure even if it was a 6 wheel drive that it would be good offroad? :?

"infact"?
Don't think so. It was in the foreground and not attached to the truck what so ever. :D

If it was 6X6, that's a shed load of lockers to make it go any good offroad

its doable.

a couple of late model IRS pajero diffs or similar.

a spare transfer case 1:1 ratio etc(if doable)

and a shit load of beer and an engineering mate. :D

mount the IRS diffs lower on the chassis

flip the middle axles diff over 180 degrees (facing backwards)

sandwich the transfer between them

run the drive shaft from gearbox to what would be the output flange to the front diff. (over top)

then run wishbones top and bottom on each hub.

then just lower the front set up.(end result .....raised 6wd truck)
Waiter...there is a drought in my glass.

And hey presto, we now have a vehicle with too much traction to turn

Seen an older model with the dual rear axle, parked outside the local K-Fry. Didn't grab a pic of it unfortunately.

Don't need to over think a 6wd set up. All you need is a C drive and enough space to fit it.
The std drive shaft drives the system and the lower leg of the C goes to the front diff head and the upper leg of the C drives over the top of the middle axle to the rear diff head. Biggest issue is that you wouldn't want to much artic in the axles as the driveshaft splines would have to be too long (unless you forward mounted the C drive off the middle axle housing)
Ugly is a state of mind..... and the state of my truck!

yeah but at least it has a practical application..

the prior images showed a rig with no load carryin capacity to warrant havin a dual rear..

This is true ...

The funny thing about the Safari is it had about 3000 children in the back as well. And for that one week period it kept driving past my work.

When you stand back and look at the size of it, it actuall has a shit load of room

Aren't they specifically designed for towing large caravans? The towing point would be too far behind the axle if it had single rear wouldn't it?

im confused as by his statement too. Doesn't adding a second axle increase its load carrying capacity?

I'v seen one in a Oz mag 6x6 drive,he made a drive that went through the front diff(some how fabed to end off pinion and had a surrport bearing at the pumpkin)second part was easy, very short drive shaft, slip joint and 2 UJ's.it had a deck mounted camper thing. The idear was he could take hole family being double cab stall.was pretty heavy

my comment about carrying capacity was referring to the rear tray, not for caravan's and towing specifics... i neglected to think outside std wheelin applications..

  just read the next post

The first image that started all this off, has the turn-table for carrying the 5th wheel style of camper. In other words it is the tractor unit for an articulated trailer 8)
The best thing about that is you can put a normal trailer behind that, as in the twin boat set up above. I reckon the trailer is the "post with winch" at the front because it has the tow ball up hight to put the jet-ski trailer onto 8)
Cheers,
I keep looking for the loose nut behind the wheel, but I can't find it!!
