Buying a 1991 Surf
My mate is now thinking of getting this: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... =365542065
Any thoughts/comments/suggestions? (Bearing in mind it's just going to be a beginner's 4wd for now)
Chur.

yip and a compression and leak down test. Doesnt matter if its got a brand new head all it takes it getting hot once to stuff them again. I wouldn't want to pay to much for it if i was him.
Never argue with an idiot, they drag you down to their level then beat you with experiance!

In my opinion it's eww.

But he doesn't usually drive manual, so i guess he might think it's ok. But it's still eww...

Re: Buying a 1991 Surf
if he doesnt drive a manual usually then i wouldnt put him in something he isnt used to driving and then drop him in the mud, especially when hes new to 4wding...
looks to be a well set up truck and the owners already made up a body lift for it, if you wanted to go higher...
looks like a decent first truck to me... but then i am abit biased...
cheers

He pointed out to me that seeing as he will be a uni student starting 2nd semester, he probably wont be able to pay the fuel costs for a v8

Is that trying to say something?

This is a good point, when i got my terrano i thought it was going to be cheaper than my sr20det bluebird to run, hell was i wrong, It would cost about the same in fuel, but then i have RUC ontop of diesel.
Re: Buying a 1991 Surf
sounds like he would want a truck with average/good capabilites offroad from standard that doesnt cost a bomb to run and still has cheap rego. 3ye surf!! 2 litre petrol. not the most fuel efficient thing but better than the v6 petrol with the same pitiful amount of power. just so happens i know where one is that wouldnt mind being sold. and its sitting on "32 inch" mudders...
Re: Buying a 1991 Surf
yea the white one. just a bit too painful when pulling the zuk so want to go to a 1kz surf or maybe just a bighorn or somehting. and havent got the coin to do the 1uz conversion. maybe that motor will have to perch itself some where. gonna tidy up the surf and chuck it on trademe for a stupid amount and see what happens lol
