Post by andy3542 »

Ill start this one...

finished fitting the parabolics to the land rover this evening... :D its sitting about 2" higher. im going to need to get new shocks sometime.... :?

got to finish the wiring for the speaker, light and volt guage this weekend and possibly test the new springs out... dont want to break anything before superwinch weekend though... hmmm

so my starter motors crapped out now. replaced the bushes last night but still nothing. solenoids the issue so no iv got to go hunting for another one, i think its been cooked by the exhaust... :(

cheers

Well, it was 1 step forwards, 2 back with the Lada. Again.

Walby came over and gave me the sender unit. tested it and it was ok. Put it in tonight and it didn't work.

He checked over the brakes and they basically need a full check over/refurb.

I also found out it's VERY loud with no exhaust

Got the panelbeater from work round, and he said it'll cost round $100 to get rid of all the rust.

Gunna take it into work tomorrow to stuff around with anything that needs doing :D :D

Today I got the exhaust patched up, and refitted. Took a while, but now sounds nice (although it did sound pretty mint with no exhaust whatsoever   ).

All I have to do is stick a small extension on the end, to make the fumes exit away from the body.

I also cleaned all under the engine bay with prepsol (I freaking love that stuff! :D ) and it's quite shiny. Now gotta silicone spray all the rubber hoses. After that, it'll be easy as anything to clean mud off.

And the fuel sender unit started working at one stage (after not working for ages, despite me playing round with it).

I also took off the towbar to clean it up, and make it suitable for a recovery hook.

And that was all done for free. (Unless my boss decides to take it out of my wages   )

Almost road legal!

Tested out the new mud flaps, they work ! Stop all the cow poop getting in those hard to reach places.
Spent today (Sat) banging in pegs and stringing up bunting for the Superwinch winch challenge... those tracks are going to be great

Had a fairly quiet weekend. Came across a v8 vs commie stuck in a big ditch on the way back from fishing at 2am this morning.

Luckily I had my tow rope and some rated D shackles with me (was in a mates mu), so we spent a couple of hours pulling him out. All i can say is im shocked at holdens awesome design - No rear tow hooks whatsoever and the front ones might as well not be there.

We got him out at the price of front bumper ripped off, ripped a front tow hook clean off, the back bumper got ripped off plus he had smashed the front left guard and indicator. He had owned the car for a week and it had a fresh paint job.

I didnt even think to take any pics

Today I hardly did anything. :(

I went into work, but nobody was there, despite saying they would be. Liars!

So I flushed out the radiator. Took ages to get the water to run clear, instead of rust-coloured.

Just now I have cut the remaining pipes from the ends of the muffler, and made a mock-up of the exhaust exit:

Any thoughts/comments before I weld it up?

Exit the exhaust out to the RH side aft of the mud flap. I could get squashed when you off road if you exit it there.

Good point. And I just remembered the towbar needs to be re-fitted before I figure out where to put the exhaust

How about this?
