Nissan GQ CV & FW Hub replacement help please

Post by muddy »

I'm replacing a broken CV and hub after a brain fart over the weekend. Yes it did involve a lot of air under the front wheels and a fair bit of throttle still on when they landed....

First - I'm not sure if I've got the bronze bush on the CV the right way around. It seems to fit best with the angled edge against the CV housing, but I've got advice that it's wrong that way. But with it the other way, it doesn't seem to fit snug against the CV face...

And the replacement hub is one of the "Force" OEM style hubs. But I cant pull the CV stub-axle far enough through the housing to get the circlip groove through the Hub sleeve.

The inside of the wheel bearing shaft/housing has been damaged a little from the broken CV (it was the stub-axle part that broke - not the ball housing), but I can't see anything that would stop the CV bush from fitting properly.

I gotta admit, it's got me beat. Am I missing something simple?

looked in my manual and my downloaded manual can't see which way it goes around in either of them, apart from pull the other side down and check, no clues here :D

Problem solved.

The bush sits with the angled side against the CV ball.

And the roller bearing race inside the housing was damaged - which stopped the stub-axle coming through far enough.
