whats the general view on the bighorn 3.2 v6 petrols?
fuel consumption?
reliability?
easy to work on?
power?
considering 1 of these as an option for a work/tow wagon, I would only get a 5 speed

3.2 v6 good or nah?
Re: 3.2 v6 good or nah?
I have one
They are all good. But fuel consumption is on the high side. It uses about the same as our 2.5 Turbo skyline and thats nana driving in the bighorn.
Working on them is a piece of piss.
Im a desk jocky and I had the gearbox out and replaced the clutch and back in, in 5 hours.
Apart from replacing the gearbox and clutch when purchsed I have not spent any time under it for repairs. I have just driven it.
Mine has done 285kms on original motor as well.
Power wise its faster than my old 3L V6 pajero and when you put your foot down it passes really easy.
I have towed a S2 Landrover on a car trailer back from Auckland and sat on 100kms no problem.

Re: 3.2 v6 good or nah?
I've had mine, 1993 model, since 1999 and it's still great. Yes, fuel consumption is high by modern standards - 400km per tankful (75 litres?) around town and 500km on the highway. Mine has done very well off-road - both club and private trips (and on the former I can see how well it does compared with all sorts of other makes), but it does have limited slip diff (options code G80 on engine plate) and I think that helps. It's also long enough to sleep in the back behind the front seats, if you want to use it for car-camping. Turning circle is slightly poor I think but 3-point (or off-road 5-point, or 7-point) turns solve that one!

Once had an Isuzu Vehicross Which has the 3.2 in it, Same as later model wizards etc.
was running a 32 mud tyre Pretty much fuel consumption was around 21L to 100 km. ok im a bit heavy footed and most of it was town driving.
Pretty much really only sold it because of that!.
Otherwise. Motor well i didnt have any problems with it, From what ive seen these motors rock with the 5 speed.

Damn, my Mini costs around that much to fill with 98 fuel, and a tank lasts 300-400 km's.
I always forget how freakin' cheap it is (especially when it's sitting up, not going anywhere)

Re: 3.2 v6 good or nah?
I guy in the club has one , a swb . Had a bunch of work done on it and the rocker covers were leaking . Done over 200 tho . The guys in the shop said to do one side they would have to drop the engine out , he said forget it .
So I guess its a tight fit in there , never looked in the bay myself .
