Made a new snorkel, 3" mandrel bent, as the 2" was probally to small for the motor.

Image

Just needs mounting brackets, then a paint :)
Image

Also atempted to start it yesterday. The motor turned over but wouldn't start. Found that the fuel pump was not sending fuel to the motor, hot wired it and tried to start it again but with no luck. The motor must not be getting spark. Got a mate who will come around and have a look at the wiring, as thats the only thing im not good with

New snorkel looks way better than the other one being mandrel bent and all. 8) 8) 8) Should have plenty of grunt to turn those 35's now and then some

Yeah running 2" probally starved the motor for air. And I have to say it looks cool 8)

Ok so we haven't been working on it as much as we should have, but we are coming close to finishing.
The front and rear guards have now been chopped, front guards just need repainting.
When we chopped the front guards we had to fold and make a new lip to allow for our rubber flares to be attached. Also the inner guard had to be chopped to allow the new tyres to clear as well.

Chopped front guard

How much was chopped off each guard

Finished the piping for the super charger.
Image

Had to remount the coil pack, so I made a new bracket.

It lives!!! Got all the wiring sorted now thanks to a mate. Started it this morning for the first time. Its reving a bit to high but most of the noise is from the blower.
Video of start up here.

Guards are getting painted tomorrow, and tyres fitted to the rims.

I hate to say it but this Zook is sounding pretty cool. Gotta love the sounds of SC.

Here are a few photos of what’s been happening over the past couple of rainy days.
Sanded back the guards and put a light skim of bog over a few light dents.

Primed ready for paint.
Image

Cut a couple of hole in the bonnet for an air vent to be fitted. Planning of fitting an extraction fan to try and let some heat out.

Painted the scoop gloss black

Looking (and sounding) cool 8)

What extra wiring did you do to run it and how do you get the idle dropped or is that a simple thing?

Lots of the wiring had to be extended because the coil pack had to be moved, also chopped out alot of un wanted wires that were not used, and they were also lengthed to get away from the Sc because it gets pretty hot since theres no intercooler!

It actually ideling in the video! Just the wine commig from the Sc makes it sould likes it doing around 2500rpm :)

Got the guards painted yesterday and put them on this morning along with the snorkel. Fitted an extraction fan under the bonnet which lets loads of heat out.
Took it for a bit of a test run :D

Have a few tething problems though. We think oil is leaking out of the left rocker cover. Also the truck will turn off sometimes but then won't other times. Mabey a dodgy earth? Have to get them sorted before next Sunday as theres a club run, and since there has been alot of rain should be a good test for it

Just a couple of photos I should have put up earlier.
Guards all painted

Fitted an extraction fan under the bonnet, lets lots of heat out.

Have taken it for a couple of test runs, it keeps blowing the rocker cover seals. We thought the SC might have been creating to much pressure in the sump.
What's really happening is that the rocker covers don't have breathers on them selves but breathers that go in front of the throttle body. When we accelerated the butterfly in the throttle would open letting the air in, then when reaccelerated it would close and some air would go past the waste gate, into the rocker covers and blow the seals.
We solved the problem by extended the breather and blocking of the pipe coming off the throttle body.
Picture show the seal blown out. It also happened to be the side the SC was on each time, so its been off lots of times now

Tuff truck in two weeks!!!
Decided to remount the auto trans cooler as it was taking a large space up in front of the radiator.
Image

Image
Fitted a fan to keep it cool and air flow through it.

Thought I would also put a couple of photos of the engine bay.

Have our 4wd club champs tomorrow so hopefully I will chuck a few more photos on here, and of the other mods that are happening.

Well the mods go on...
Changed the diff ratios, from 4.1's to 4.8's which should help turn the 35's easier.
Also got this in the mail the other day

Allot. By the time it arrived at my door around $2000. That included GST. When I paid the money it was in Auckland the next day, so they didn't muck around sending it. It is very well made and high quality

hey hey, that charger looks familia!!!!!!!! was on a mate of mines commie, he bought it of a guy in chch i think, we also had teething problems, so much so that he blew an engine and decided it wasn't worth it, went bloody hard though, one thing we did find is that the blow off valve is too incosistant at regulating the boost preassure, causing the engine to run rich at idle as boost leaks past the throttle body causing a drop in manifold vacume ( closer to zero ) this causes the map sensor to think the throttle is open causing the high idle. the solution i had was to replace the BOV with a flap connected to a vacume actuator in turn connected to manifold vac, this would waste all the boost at idle and close the flap as you but you foot down, far more effeciant than the BOV pulsing all the time to waste, however i never got to try it as he gave up and it would seem, sold it to you, i hope this helps if you havent figured it already!  :P

Has a normal idle from what I've seen, it's just that the SC is pretty loud. :|

i think thats caused by the bov as well as it may not be wasting enough and loading up the rotors, i could be wrong, but hey if you're happy with it then have fun!!!! :P
