Hi Guys
I am having a problem communicating between the new Uniden radio I installed (Cheers Jerry) and my handheld Wouxun KG-UVD1P unit.
The Uniden unit is installed in the car and receives any voice sent from the Wouxun.
But when I try to talk back from the Uniden to the handheld I cant hear anything on the handheld - although on the Wouxun it does show the channel as busy whenever I depress the mic button on the Uniden.
Any thoughts? I dont think the issue is with the Uniden as the handheld does recognise when I am transmitting from the Uniden.
Cheers

Re: UHF Radio Issue
Still could be the Uniden, it may have an issue with the mic in the hand-unit or plug. Best bet would be to add a 3rd unit into the mix and see if the Uniden transmits voice to that. If it does then it would be your Wouxun that is having probs. You need to prove which one is faulty first.pouw wrote:button on the Uniden.

Re: UHF Radio Issue
Good point but I had the same problem with my last UHF I had in a terrano (also a Uniden), could hear the wouxon but not vice versa.
So I am thinking the Wouxon is more likely the issue.

Re: UHF Radio Issue
is the wouxon a dual band radio?, i can lend you a couple of PRS's to test if you want, if its faulty its under warranty so no probs there.

Re: UHF Radio Issue
I believe it is. I am starting to think the Wouxun speaker might be faulty. I should be getting beeps out of it when I turn it on but there is nothing, not even the normal click through the speaker your normally get when you turn a radio on.
Still playing but if you are around at some point Jerry, might try communicating between yours and my radios.
Cheers

Yep looks like speaker is knackered in the handheld. Plugged external speakers in and tones are working.

Re: UHF Radio Issue
Sounds to me one of them is set for duplex mode.In duplex you send on 1 channel & receive on another.

It won't be duplex mode if the HH is showing the channel as busy, its receiving ok, no audio is due to speaker failure or volume set too low.

Re: UHF Radio Issue
Just hook it in the the same feed as the stereo then its fused and cant be left on and flatten the battery (Eventually)
If you really want to go directly of the battery the normal 1mm cable from Repco or SC is fine. Just add a fuse at the battery end in-case the cable suffers any damage, it saves an electrical fire.

There is no mechanical problem so difficult that it cannot be solved by brute strength and ignorance.
Re: UHF Radio Issue
Your car stereo should have a permanent +ve feed, (for radio station memory). Mine is looped into this. It means I don't need to have the keys in or in the acc or on position to use the UHF. My radio has its own inline fuse in the +ve line.
