Yeah, I had my brother standing there with a fire extinguisher just incase

All sorts of things going through the head like "did I do those bolts up, put oil in, wire it up right..." hahaha

I only have a front drive shaft atm and got a little wheel spin on the loose metal by accident. You can hear me laughing about it in the vid.

OK, so some more progress updates to follow after this weekend but couldn't wait to post up this pic...

I'VE GOT A HUGE....

Image

Dizzy :D

I dont know how many of you Landcruiser guys have dealt with Jason of ClassicCruiserSpares but I cant recommend him enough. He has been awesome to deal with, has massive knowledge on everything cruiser and the dizzy you see in the above pic is his own personal spare which he arranged to courier up to me in time for the long weekend so I would be able to get my truck up and running again.

Jas, YOU ARE A LEGEND :!:

Just to give some alternative size perspective... Here is a photo of my son next to the truck. While not quite 2yrs old he is over 7 feet tall which really proves just how massive everything on this truck is

Image

Or if you prefer here is a comparison of the old dizzy to the new one (new one is at least 4 times bigger):

Image

Truck is running now but as luck would have it I now have an over fueling problem :x it just wants to stall out on me. I'm hoping it is just old fuel so will drain the tank tomorrow and fill it with new gas... Sorry but this means no vids of it on first run just yet :(

So other mods not yet posted - Made a radiator shroud to fit a single 12" fan and oil cooler for the power steering oil. Fan apparently moves 2300cfpm so hopefully that will keep it cool:

Image

Moved the isolation switch up into the dash (and out of water/mud), mounted UHF and some missile launching switches (for the missiles of course):

Image

Cut some holes in the rear quarter panels to mount some led trailer lights - should look quite sweet once paint and panel is done:

Image

After the fueling issue is sorted out I'm keen to make up a snorkel for it. I already have a 3" hat (which I hope will give the 2F enough air), just need to get some exhaust tube, couple of bends and an enclosed air cleaner housing to mount onto the Holly carb. Think it should be a fairly straight forward set up with easy access through the guard:

Image

The "To Do" list is getting pretty short now.

Looking good nibs but re over fuelling.. could it be the cold start injector on all the time..? as it is associated to the cold start timer sw from memory..which will time the injector for "x"amount of time..? just a thought.. as I have had no problems with old fuel..LOL

1. Thats not another 40, its actually a storage unit where I put landcruiser parts. I'm gradually adding to the pile of parts

2. Lights were cheap and wires already run to previous lights in the rear. I also like the idea of others behind me knowing when I'm stopping. Yeah, its a bush truck but i'd like it to be up to (or close) to road legal standards just incase...

3. I'm not talking professional show truck here. I've had some 2k paint slops in the shed for a while that cost me a dozen beer so am planning on painting it all one color.

Cheers dude, i'm chomping at the bit to get out in the mud

I love this truck dude!

I'm keen to see these tail lights in place.

Why did ya make this the priority over the glass tubbed lexus powered one? ( I watched vvega wire the thing and get it going at petes work that time)

keep it up man. Inspirational.

After taking the yellow 350 chevy powered one I used to own on a few trips I realised that as it was straight as I was worried about smashing it all the time. Because of this I didn't enjoy the trips as much as I had in this brown truck.

I'm keen to get back into the mud and have some fun so wanted to finish this one before the lexus which will be a shiny.

PS. Cheers for the comments dude.

Spent the day building a retaining wall in the rain :x but got a little time out to make up fillers for the gap between the guard and the bonnet.

Just need to fiberglass them in place now.

39.5's but are pretty worn so maybe more like 38's

Few more fun things to do to it yet. Need some more rainy weekends so I have an excuse to stay indoors and work on it :D

Well, weather today was just right for some more shed time...

Bought myself a new 100mm Hitachi angle ginder for 50% off at Placemakers today 8) Have only had el chepos until now and even though its only the small one it is way more powerful that what i had before.

So then I needed something to test my new angle grinder on...

Some of you may remember from the flex test that I have a rub problem in the rear guards:

Image

I could have extended the rear bump stops, or I could play with my new toy...

Made up some high tech moulds using a pen, stick, and some cardboard:

Image

Drew some lines on the guards using the high tech template then warmed up the new toy. Inside guard before shot:

Image

Inside guard after shot:

Image

I got 3 cut off blade with the new grinder, and before I new it I had already gone through 2 of them  :

Image

Thought that It would be a good idea to fill up the holes that the new toy had made so bent up a 90 degree bend and tacked it in:

Image

And the rest really fell into place after that:

Image

Image

Both tacked in place, not a bad effort for a windy Sunday afternoon:

Nice work. I like it how there's so much flex that theres only a couple of inches of the deck left at the top of the wheel arch

IT LIVES :!: :!: :!: :!:

Gave up trying to figure this one out so dropped it off at a mates workshop...

Image

I'm very pleased to say truck is now up and running

Embarrassing thing is that the only problem was the dizzy set up incorrectly  . Anyhow, timing sorted and after a cough and splutter drive home (and even though there is still much to do) I decided to shake some of the cobwebs out:

Sorry, bad quality vid taken on phone which couldn't handle the sound  It is actually running sweet now :D

Also thought I better find something to drive up.

Remember before hassling my effort that this is the first actual drive I've had since this truck has undergone some MAJOR changes...

If you are on dial up then these photos may be better than watching that second vid:

Cheers Nibs. I'm fully motivated to get this truck trip ready now. No more mods - just get it usable. and enjoy.

I need to show that lexus some love - Callum007 has already helped by sending me some high steer arms for it :D

Cant wait to take my boy out in this truck - I reckon the 4 point harness is all good to hold a 2yr old in
