Water in the engine
Ok so quick confession. I ended up having to pull the head on my TD42. Long story re head studs etc but anyway. Drained water, detached everything, loosened head studs and noticed water running out the back of the head....DOH!!
. Got head off and last of head water had run into rear cylinders!!! Dumb I know. This must be a novice mistake. Anyway immediately pulled sump plug, drained, mopped up cylinders, blew them out with compressed air and dried with absorbent paper. Also squirted a bit of CRC in each one. Question is.. is there anything else I should do as I re-assemble next weekend or before? Is it just fill with fresh oil and filters, run then drain again. Should I assemble and crank with no injectors in for a bit or should that be OK? Any advice appreciated.

Re: Water in the engine
Carry on as you are. On the right track.
Cheers,
Cheers,
I keep looking for the loose nut behind the wheel, but I can't find it!!
Re: Water in the engine
Thats pretty much what I'd have done if it happened to me.
Re: Water in the engine
I wouldn't worry about draining the oil out again. Good that you have done a oil change, but if alot of water got in the sump, it would have been at the bottom (Oil floats on water), so you could have just drained that out. Main thing to watch is that the bores/rings don't go rusty, so spraying with the crc should do the trick.
Re: Water in the engine
Ok so head studs and inlet and exhaust manifold gaskets replaced, cleaned injectors, new gaskets, head gasket and head torqued to manual settings, new oil and all back together. Is running as smooth as ever and driving and pulling much better (think those injectors needed the clean up)...BUT...there is condensation coming out the breather and the rocker cover cap when taken off. Like steam. Checked radiator level. Looks fine. Checked oil level. Looks fine (not milky yet or any real sign of quantities of water getting in. So to those of you that have gotten water into the engine and cleaned it out...is this kinda normal i.e. last remnants of water inside the engine evaporting out the top or have I cocked something up?
